uneedav8 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) Is it safe to use molex to PCI-E adapters? the 6 or the 8 pin....thanks Edited December 20, 2014 by uneedav8
Black64 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 It's "OK" to use them, but not recommended, if your PSU doesn't have 6 or 8 pin connectors, it means it's not designed to power them.

Well, my PSU has plenty of 8 and 6 pin PCI-E leads.....I just need more and that is why I am asking.
ir_cow Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Yeah you can use them but make sure you don't over the amps on the 12v rail. What PSU do you have?

ir_cow Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 That psu should have a like 6 or 8 8-pin connectors already! If you have run out, I would certainly check how many amps are being used already lol. It's a good power supply so I wouldn't worry that much but make sure you just don't overload it. To your orginal question. It only matter which you use Molex or EPS cables if your psu uses multiple 12v rails as the Molexs are usually on one all by itself.
