Pteroduck Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Hey guys once again, I'm asking advice for a friend. He's getting an Asus 1440p monitor to play games on and a 1080p monitor on the side to look at stuff.Which video card would benefit him the most? It's an awkward set-up, that's why I'm coming here to ask. Does that extra monitor make any difference?

Pteroduck Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 450 but he's willing to add or lower depending on each card's pros & cons
SpikeSoprano Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I sometimes use an extra monitor to keep my temp programs and cpu/memory usage on so I know how hard a game will stress my rig.
IVIYTH0S Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Gigabyte R9
feetfats Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Gigabyte R9 290 I would not buy the 290 with the reference cooler. The aftermarket coolers should be around very soon.
Pteroduck Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Ah ok. Whats the difference between the 290 and 290x? Is it the same as a K on intel CPU's and a Black vs non-black on AMD cpus?

Pteroduck Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Ah ok. The card seems promising. I can eliminate the heat and loud noise issue with the nzxt GPU mount and a aio watercooler eh?

Pteroduck Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Maybe that can lead to better overclockability and my friend giving me some props
Waco Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 What does he want to run at 2560x1440? A 290 could be massive overkill...
