  1. Firmware for the wifi card, I'm not sure what you mean there, could you tell me whereabouts I could find this firmware update cause I am willing to give it a go. Still cant resolve the problem, I might have to end up buying another wireless connector, is there any motherboard driver utilities that are directly linked to wifi management because I will try removing and reinstalling them
  2. Okay I narrowed it down and found out its my TP-LINK mini wifi connector! Boots and keyboard/mouse responds fine if its not plugged in or if it has no drivers installed. I reinstalled the drivers for it in hopes of solving the issue but no luck. I also got a blue screen pulling it out of my computer when I was first testing. I think the device is okay because I used it on my last computer no issues. Is there any motherboard drivers that might be needed for the device? did you change os compaired to your previous computer? it might not support windows 7 if it was from a vista/xp computer before. I havent changed OS no I still havent resolved the problem, not sure what to try next, hmm... thanks for all suggestions so far though people
  3. Just out of curiosity, I bought a 21.5 inch samsung monitor with my new build and did not realise it didnt have a HDMI port (surprised seeing as the monitor is ment to be HD and runs 1920/1024 resolution. Would using (don't know exact name) that cable that looks like a VGA but a bit wider connector make any difference frame rate wise? I just heard HDMI cables let data travel through quicker. This might be a stupid question though. Just could not find anything on the net because I don't know the name of the cable

  5. Will get back to you, thanks! Ill try a combination of booting with different usb devices
  6. I installed some drivers from the asrock site now, they start working quicker now but it is still about 10-15 seconds. Is there any settings in BIOS I could change?
  7. Thanks for advice, I did think IBT pushed it a bit far, prime95 never reaches temps like it does. I am running now at 4.2ghz and its very stable at 1.175v which i am happy with About the USB, i have a 2tb external hard drive plugged in and a wifi TP-link wireless connection thing plugged in also but thats it. I have tried the mouse and keyboard on all the USB slots on the case now and still seems to take 35 seconds or so to start. I installed them off the motherboard driver installation disk should I try the ones from the website? I have a razr imperator mouse and a gigabyte k3 keyboard, I have installed the drivers for the razr but could not find any for the k3. Thanks
  8. As granular as available. Example; if your BIOS allows +/- .005 then test 1.195V, rinse and repeat until you get a BSOD or lock up. Im down to 1.18v at 4.2ghz now and is running max of 84 degrees on "maximum" setting on intel burn test and only 60 degrees on prime95. Looking promising so far Thanks for suggestions. Ill keep dropping voltage til it becomes unstable
  9. Will do that now! Also as another unrelated query, save me startiing a new thread, as my pc gets into login screen the mouse and keyboard are unresponsive for around 30 seconds. So my computer starts up quickly but almost pointless because I can't login til the mouse and keyboard respond. Any ideas
  10. I shall order another fan Also, what voltage decrease incrememnts should I try. On 1.2V right now thank you
  11. I know right, have never gotten temps so high on any other CPU I have owned. Prime95 will only get me to about 65 ish but that intel burn test on high just pushes the temps overboard. I have a fractal design r4 with only one fan fitted at the front, and a rear case fan to let heat out, would fitting a second fan help do you think?
  12. Just went over 100 degrees, what is going on! Might take the chip back, if its running that hot at only 4.0ghz then there is definitely something wrong. Should my hyper 212 be screwed in as tightly as possible?
  13. i will try that now, just went back to 4.0ghz and did intel burn test high setting run and my CPU supposedly (according to real temp) hit 97 degrees within a few seconds of the program running. I dont think my temp programs doing its job, because I dont think I could be reaching those temperatures and still havent crashed
  14. 4.2ghz was unsuccessful. Way too much heat hit 90 running intel burn test within the first run. I think I have a dud cpu for overclocking perhaps. Which is a shame, anything I can try to get the temps down a bit? Would better thermal paste make much of a difference?
  15. I cleaned the thermal paste and re applied some new and that has lowered the temps by about 4 degrees both on load and idle I am going to pump it up to 4.2ghz now, do i need to change the voltage or anything else yet?
