New Rig Configuration

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, it's been a while since I last time was here. Now I'm back with a need for your knowledge and advices. I'm building a new rig, and I need the best components at this moment, which motherboard, cpu, memory, and if it's not to annoying write down psu and graphic card/s and what is better two gpus or one large one? :) The rest I'll figure out myself... The price is not an issue, I've been saving money to replace my current configuration (ASUS M5A99X Evo; Patriot 8GB 1600mhz DDR3; AMD Phenom II X4 960T (unlocked X6 now); ASUS GTX 650TI Boost Direct Cu). And another question, which is better water cooling your rig or aircooled ? Thanks a lot in advance for your help... :)

Hello Bojan85 and welcome back to OCC

Best components at this moment,.. price not an issue,.. for what platform, chipset, formfactor, and type usage gaming rig, specific type work station, or everyday computing,.. and do you plan on overclocking.

Well at this time I was thinking Intel based, for everyday use, job (simple every day programs), and of course gaming (born in 1985, so I was growing up when gaming industry were developing). I was googling around and came up with this configuration: Intel Core i7 4770K (4790K not in stores in my country, for now); ASUS Z97 Deluxe; Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB DDR3 2400MHz; Sapphire Radeon TRI-X R9 290X 2GB DDR5 512bit; Kingston SSD 480GB HyperX 3K; Seagate SSHD 4TB; Seasonic Platinum 1000XP 1000W Modular; Cooler Master Cosmos SE Big Tower; Cooler Master Nepton 280L... Or I was thinking on going on Intel Core i7 4390K and ASUS Rampage IV Black Ed. with pretty much all the same other components. It's a bit pricy for me, but I'm willing to invest more if it pays. What troubles me is for how long am I set eith this config. without upgrading it? And I'm not an overclocking type of guy, willing but not yet educated on that field... :)

Both configurations are solid for overclocking, everyday use and gaming rig,.. depending on your monitor configuration/resolution  would dictate how long you will be set before needing to upgrade.

Personally I would go with the Z97 Deluxe and a single 30" monitor,..

Everything is an option at this point, still looking in every direction possible... :) I'm only sad cause NZXT Kraken X31 is not yet in the stores in my country, would like to replace the cooler master nepton. I like NZXT, still have theirs Lexa S Classic Series case, which is by far my best case ever... Still thinking to replace Cosmos with NZXT H440, if it comes in the stores by the time I begin to build my pc... We'll see...:)
