Rockrtx Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Depends on boards actually. I use the EVGA as a daily, but the Asus I think starts at 1.2V You can easily hit 3.2GHz with minimal increases, if any, on voltages. Can,t really tell a max overclock as that depends a lot on your CPU. For 24/7 use, you will be temperature limited more than anything. What heatsink are you running? I would be comfortable to run up to 1.35V daily, even 1.4V assuming proper cooling I am running Noctua nh-u12p 1366 whit good result, 1h30 of prime95 and got max temp of 65 degre on real temp. Setting Cpu ratio 20 Blck 160 qpi link lowest setting vcore 1.23750 qpi/dram 1.33750 ram at 1600mhz 2/10 ratio dram bus 1.
Zertz Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Looks good, you can probably get a couple more hundred MHz out of it Just stay under 70C and it'll be fine
Rockrtx Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I just bump oc to 3.4 under the same voltage and it pass 1h30 prime95 with max temp load at 67 and idle at 37-41 at 28 degre room temp. But i ad to under clock my 1600mhz memory to 1360mhz to stay at 1.33750 qpi/dram volt. CPU volt at 1.23750 Is my under clock memory is limiting my performance? ( CPU 3.2 with RAM 1600mhz vs 3.4 with 1360mhz ) Is it still safe to run at these speed? ( run my computer about 5 hours in a day not 24/7 ) I could probably get 3.5 - 3.6 but i am still a beginner OC and don't want to burn CPU ( need advice ) and will i see a good gain to OC even moore? Zertz Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Those voltages are safe Games are mostly GPU limited especially at 1920x1080 and above so memory and even processor clock have little effect on performance.
Rockrtx Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 (edited) Thanks ZERTZ for your answer,i might stay at 3.2 with 1600 mhz memory ....happy with the performance and feel snapier on internet with these setting.I have 20 inch samsung screen and only play at 1280x1024 with a x1300 ati card because my 9600 gt is RMA process. But it is better playing crysis warhead with my i7 and x1300 ati than my previous amd 3200 and 9600 gt sc. Can't wait to see the quality and performance with my i7 and 9600 gt sc together. My game run so smooth with that i7 compare with my amd 3200.
