ir_cow Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 So I've been wanting to clone my desktop drive and replace it with a new one but I ran into a small problem. The Acronis True Image will clone the drive but than it requires booting with "Windows Boot Disk Manager" in the bios rather than straight from selecting a disk. Now this is fine if I want to go into the bios everytime I start computer but otherwise it makes cloning useless. Does anyone know other good software for disk cloning that doesn't do this? This problem is with 2014 and 2015 editions. I did use Acronis 2011 a few years ago and did not have this problem but I can't find the disk anywhere. DanTheGamer11 Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Don't seagate and WD have a cutdown version of Acronis available for download? they only work if they detect their brand hdd tho

Braegnok Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 I use EaseUS Partition Master Free Edition,.. http://download.cnet.com/EaseUS-Partition-Master-Free-Edition/3000-2248_4-10863346.html#editorsreview
blacksails23 Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 I had the same issue with Acronis cloning my laptop HDD to my Crucial SSD. That free Acronis code was useless. I eventually just backed up everything, threw it in the laptop and went the recovery partition route.

cchalogamer Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I use Macrium Reflect, free, easy to use and better then the others imho ! I'll second this, I have NOT used it for what I think you're planning if I read that right, however it's the best disk clone software I've ever used and for home use the free version will take care of you nicely. Cloning a user's old 1TB HDD image over to a new 240GB SSD without having to manually resize ANYTHING and keeping their factory recovery partition intact and working...yeah it's the first I've found that can do that properly.
