jimbo312 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 One of the screw holes in my h80i radiator is stripped. What can i do to use a screw in this hole? Thought about a glue of some kind but don't want it there permanently. What are some of my options without buying a new cooler? WhenKittensATK Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) 3M double-sided tape. Strong and easily removeable. I used to it use it to mount case fans on a 3x120mm radiator. It was pretty sturdy, but I used screws to mount the radiator to the case. Edited January 7, 2015 by AZNguyen
jimbo312 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Thanks. Didn't even think of that. I should have some of that on hand because i use it for my rc cars.
AkakmanH Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I second the 3M tape approach. Do NOT use dollar store (cheap) tape as it is definitely not the same and won't last. Any heat at all causes cheap take to lose its grip.
ccokeman Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 The other option would be to go to the next size up in thread count with a simple tap from Lowes!
bishop245 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 forget the tap just buy self threading screws lol and yes the good 3m double sided stuff should help if ya don't need a screw in there

Boinker Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Depends on what screw you used. I know different radiators come with a variety of screws, one thing you can try is to use a pair of small pliers to flatted out the screw hole. its basically medium thick sheet metal so its easy to warp. then you may be able to put the screw you are using in there. soundx98 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 use 3M 4011 - http://www.walmart.com/ip/3M-2182-3075-3m-Scotch-Exterior-Mounting-Tape-4011/19902131
jimbo312 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 what i ended up doing is taking one of the fans off and using the same screw, i could go deeper so its held on pretty solid. Not ocing my cpu anyway. Thanks for the ideas and the help.
