  1. I just purchased a Seagate 320gb 7200rpm SATA II drive. I have the following system specs: evga 680i A1 intel q6600 corsair 4gb ram evga 7600gt 256mb Sorry I just gave the short and sweet of the specifications. Basically my issue is I install vista on the hard drive and it gets through all of the installing, it restarts as vista normally does before performing the final stages of installation but once it gets past the vista loading bar screen it flashes a blue screen really quick and restarts. I have reset my bios to original and am now attempting to go back to my old hard drive to try and attempt to figure out whats happening. I am trying different SATA cables and placing them in a different SATA slot. Does anyone have an idea of what may be happening here? EDIT: Alright just switched back to my old HDD, same issue. I have taken a picture to try and help more. I have no idea where to take it from here. Thanks, James
  2. It is found that Adobe Creative Suite 3 benefits from 4gb of ram, also I will be overclocking the FSB of the processor to match close to 400mhz therefore there is no bottleknecking between ram and cpu. Plus the fact that I am getting the 4gb for $220 is a steal in my mind. 2x2gb modules. I am considering getting a cheap 7900 series as well.
  3. I am going to be purchasing a new computer within the next week as currently the market prices are great for processors and I don't expect to see another price drop for months. My rig will consist of the following: Vista 64 Intel Q6600 w/ Arctic cooling Freezer 7 92mm evga nf68 nvidia 680i 4gb Corsair XMS2 6400 800mhz Corsairs 620WHX PSU Seagate SATA II 320gb hdd, with three maxtor Sata backups (I do alot of media work in CS3) My question is I am waiting for the 9x series to be released however I would like to get my computer now. My problem is there is no point in spending big bucks for 8800's when I will replace it in a few months down the road. I was thinking of getting a simple cheap, yet good value for money video card such as an 8500gt or maybe an 8600 series. I won't be gaming with anything too hardcore - just some TF2 which is more processor demanding anyways. I have read alot of reviews however I just wanted to get some outside opinions on a good low budget but value for its money card. I am talking about PCI-E cards only. Thanks, James
  4. I hope this would be the appropriate place to post this question but here it goes. I have been having issues with windows media player and any media player for that matter actually. Everytime I try to play a movie it slows my entire computer down to a slow slow pace. Meaning I can barely do anything and have to reboot to reset it. This happens regardless of what video i try to open. I have updated my video card drivers but the weird thing is none of my games are effected, the only time my computer slows is when i try to open a video in any program. even trying to watch youtube slows it down. has anyone heard of this issue before? Thanks
  5. Hi I'm posting this thread for a friend, hopefully you can help him out. Hi everyone, I have a very strange problem that I have never seen before, and I have no clue what to do. First here are my computer specs: Asus a7n8x-e Deluxe AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 400fsb Corsair ddr400 Radeon 9800 pro Maxtor 60gb SATA Out of the blue, my computer will now just randomly restart without warning. It was mainly happening in windows, but nothing was showing up in my event log, which was pointing to a hardware problem. I needed to format my HD anyway, so I did it just incase it was a windows or virus problem. I formatted, and the problem is still here. My computer will just instantly restart without warning, at any given time. It can be on for several hours and restart, or restart when I first start up my computer, even before the post screen. It is totally random, and the restart is instantaneous. No beeps or delays, just restart. I am unsure of what can cause this problem, anyone have any ideas? Thanks. EDIT: I also have not oc'ed. Have not flashed my bios lately, and it is not a heat issue.
  6. I'm having trouble with my linksys router. It's a wireless/wired combination. About two years old. Anyways, most of you know the new Battlefield 2 demo is out. I'm having some troubles with lag spikes. I tested to see if it was my modem, but when I play directly attatched to the modem my ping is stable, but when connected to the router is all jumpy. Could it just be time for me to replace this modem for a newer version? If anyone has any ideas on how I can solve this problems it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm working tonight till 10pst. So I'm going to go get a few bottles of monster, and chug those, and ill be ready and roaring to pull an all nighter, and then go to school. HOORAY.
  8. Awesome thanks for the help guys. I've decided on the Amd 3500+ 90nm socket 939. Still looking at motherboards, but I'm going to checkout the MSI Neo2. Also, when are the nforce 4 chipsets coming out? My friend keeps telling me MSI boards are complete . and only smart companies are waiting for the nforce 4 chipsets to produce nforce 939 boards.
  9. Actually, I am getting a new video card as well, but, unfortunatly the game I currently play is processor demanding, so video cards have little play in it. But I am getting the eVGA 6800 Ultra Extreme . I'm looking at this chip right now: http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/m...gory_Code=AMD64 But I was really wanting to get an asus board but I dont see any nforce 3 boards for 939, just via chipset. I only know asus really well, so does anyone else recommend some other motherboard companies that will do this chip good?
  10. Well is this 3200+ 939 90nm chip better than a 3500+ 939 90nm chip? I really want something that can smoke these processor demanding games, and I'm not afraid to overclock the bugger either. So is this absolutly true that the s939 3200 90nm chip can outperform the 3500+? But only at overclocked levels right, because all the reviews I have read show that the 3500+ is the best for the money. I'm not about saving money either, I'll spend a little extra if it will go a long way.
  11. I just read in another post that someone said the 3200 939 chips were crappier than the 754, and that they recommended getting a "true" 939 chip which is the 3500+. Hmm. now I am in a dilemma.
  12. I was talking about the Athlon XP 3200+ and the amd 64 athlon 3500+ 939 chip. Sorry I didnt specify. But I hear there is a huge amd price drop on amd 64s. So I guess I'll ask your advice again, I'm looking for lots of performance, but I dont want a hefty price tag. What do you guys recommend?
  13. I'm having a bit of a dilemma right now, I am looking into upgrading my video card processor and motherboard and I'm not sure if getting an AMD 64 3500+ is worth buying at all. I'm currently playing Counter-strike: Source which I am sure many of you are also playing and since it is a very processor demanding game I need something more than my pentium4. I was looking into the 3500+ because I read a few reviews saying it was well worth it over the 3400+. My question is, I want this processor to last a while, and I dont want to have to upgrade in a few more months because this processor is outdated. Should I just spend a few bucks and get an Amd Athlon 3200+ or is it worth it to spring for an Amd 64 3500+. Also am I going to have a noticable difference in fps for HL2 with the Amd 64? My friend says it is a huge waste of money, but I wanted to see what you educated folks thought about this situation. Thanks
  14. I would like one please. But I've already asked a few people, so if I get one just ignore this.
