Looking for Good Mechanical Keyboard and Mouse

Hey, so my current keyboard's backlight and f -key have failed, and my mouse is double clicking when I single click, so it's time for some new ones. Here's what I'm looking for. I like my current keyboard, it's got Cherry MX-Blue switches, I really enjoy the tactile feedback and the clickety-click sound when I type. I'm looking for something with a red backlight to match my PC, and good build quality. I'd like the mouse to be black and red as well to match, with a high precision laser. Any suggestions?

CM Storm and Corsair stuff may be what you're looking for. If you can find it at a good price, Ducky is an option as well (at least for the keyboard).

 

What kind of a budget do you have?

Depending on how much you are willing to spend on each peripheral, a good mice ranges from 50 to 90$. Over that, those are mostly gimmicks. In the past, I have had a logitech G5 (now G500s or so), very comfortable piece of plastic but hunky. Switches lasted me a good 6 years, but with some rubbing alcohol, I got it mostly as good as new. The wheel is a weakness from my experience.

 

I had a Corsair vengeance m60, which is around the same size of most cooler master ones, They are very good mice with mechanical switches, but it couldn't withstand me loosing in Hawken (threw it against my desk). If you have long fingers, I frankly would not recommend them, because I got harsh wrist pain during gaming. I had to use claw grip that feels uncomfortable to me.

 

The two I have now is a Razer Taipan and a Steelseries Sensei (RAW). The Taipan is a solid piece of plastic (can be thrown a couple of time, oops), has low liftoff and a good sensor (at least on a Steelseries 4HD pad). Some don't like it because their small fingers rub against the pad, but to me it feels very good in the hand. They compensated the lack of onboad memory with their series of drivers Synapse 2.0, which I dislike. All the buttons have mechanical switches behind and the wheel is solid.

 

The Steelseries Sensei RAW is light, comfortable and I think you can change the Steelseries color to one you prefer in the driver. I only use it on my notebook and I didn't mind installing the driver. I played a bit of botmatch in UT3, and it responded just as I expected, fast and precise. The tactile feel of the mechanical switches is light, so at first you might involuntary one of the two main buttons.

 

For keyboards, for the color palette you want, you could go with a Meka G something, or if you like the look, Corsair boards. If you like Cherry MX Browns there is the logitech G710.

I have been using and loving a ducky with cherry red switches. It is very basic but rock solid. Took a short while to get used to the keys.

I've used pretty much every brand except for Ducky. I can say that 1) Corsair keyboards are a bit loud when bottoming out ( must be the aluminum finish ) sturdy board , good rma 2) Coolermaster boards are sturdy AF! best build quality and feel i've seen in a long time 3) Razer Blackwidow has a good typing feel , had it for 3 months now , so far so good 4) Qpad mk-80 , build quality similar to coolermaster , no complaints , nothing too flashy but a solid keyboard! My 2 cents.
