  1. yeah, the ramsinks in the review didn't fit the demo card he was using (some sort of 6800 i believe) and the ram oc on my card is lowest of the two (439.2, 379.8 from 412, 365), which is why i'd like a better ram solution than the giantIII offers. Case temps for me are no problem, i have so much flow through i'm keeping room ambient temp inside the case. What is the ram cooling like on the ATi silencers in people's experience?
  2. the review i was looking at for the V-1 shows that you can whack on a fan to BOTH sides of the hs, even though it only comes with 1 fan... And it comes with 8 aluminium BGA RAM sinks. Also, this is for a 9800XT. I don't think i mentioned that.
  3. Which of these two VGA coolers is held as better for cooling both RAM and the GPU? I'm looking at upgrading my Tt Giant III with its Vantec Tornado (80mm) mod, and any suggestions about a new sink would be great, cheers!
  4. nah, it's definitely seated now... any ideas how i can cool this better? i really would rather not get rid of my blower. It just looks so cool!
  5. I have 2 80mm tornados and a jet7 blower (hooked up with 4 pin to 3 pin connectors) plus the little 40mm fan the aerogate comes with, but i'm unable to change the fan speeds of all 4. Interestingly enough, the one that i can't change when all 4 are hooked up is the tornado i have attached to my video card. Any thoughts? Comments? HELP!
  6. So turns out it was the hs not seated properly, the Pipe101 i'm using is a bit strange that way... Anyway, not i'm running my xp-m 2500 at 2.4ghz at 1.7V (as in BIOS, my Abit mobo undervolts a fair bit though) and i'm getting 45*C idle, 50ish stress. I'm just going to wait for the AS5 to settle over the next few weeks, see how it drops. I'm still not happy with it though... That's not quite right, high density hs like the pipe101 need a high PRESSURE fan. In normal fans, that can be translated to CFM, but with blowers it's different: then are more powerful with less cfm. I do think i need a better fan on it though...
  7. Yeah, i'm using AS5, i've lapped the sink, it's all seated properly, there's nothing pushing on it and i don't know what it can be other than that the blower isn't powerful enough to cool the pipe 101 (which because of it's many many super thin fins, restricts airflow to the base in low powered fans) or that the sensors are stupid.
  8. Apples used to be radcore, like, back in the days of black and white Sim City 1 with Godzilla. And this dude means that Apple (the company) paved the way for wicked bad pcs these days. In conclusion, Apple did good work, but that's about all they did well. That and video editing software. Shame about the platform though *flips off imac and G3*
  9. Yo, so i just got a new XP-m 2500 today and running it at 1.450V i'm getting 46*C idle, 49*C stress with my jet7 blower on pipe 101 sink. Now, i'm sure i remember it not being so crap before, so could it possibly be my mobo sensors are out of whack? The main problem with this is that when the mobo says the cpu hits 60*C it shuts itself off. Therefore, very little overclocking. Any suggestions would be tops, thanks
  10. Am i able to connect my tv to my 9600 pro with a bundsled leadtek vivo cable (s-video out to rca into the telly) even if my radeon isn't an all-in-wonder? I'm guessing NO at the mo, but if anyone has any sugestions, it would be greatly apreciated. P.S. I have no s-video in plug on the tv Cheers
  11. I've read so much about LCD panels recently and am feeling rather swamped. My question is this: what is, without a doubt, the best panel for gaming (taking into account price)? I don't really want to spend over $500AUD on this, and it has to be rather quick on the response time. And tips and sugetsions would be awesome, thanks
  12. I just looked it up and that chip baselines at 1.65V... From that i'd say i won't bother with it. The whole point of me getting the thing is to OC to the max, and with that Vcore i may as well stick with my XP 2800+. Australia has to be the most pov country for getting high end or enthusiast computer hardware....
  13. I've been rooting around shops here and all i can find in the mobile series of XP cpus is the 3000 (that's specialy ordering it in). I was just wondering if this CPU is as good for ocing as the 24/25/2600 chips. In other words, is it worth paying $265AUD for? Any advice would be greatly apreciated thx
  14. I'm looking at switching my system from the AMD XP 2800+ i have at the mo to a XP-M 2500 very soon and i was wondering if there was any way of putting the chip in so windows doesn't have a hissy and not boot. I really can't be bothered reinstalling everything again, so any help would be great, thanks
  15. I'm solidly considering getting a 2500-M in the next week or two... all i can get with my 2800+ is about 2.3 at 1.950V (therefore, crud in a bucket). Is the 2500 the prime ocing chip, or are the higher stock chips (2600, 2800) better?
