  2. i had a look at your suggestion it seems to be a solid bet i found i can get the parts cheaper then ebay woot woot Gigabyte 970A-DS3
  3. hi guys everything will be bought from ebay as it seems to be the cheapest place i can go lol, the reason for the upgrade from my old board is one of the two ram slots died. here are the am3 boards ive been looking at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASRock-M5A78L-M-LX-AMD-X4-Quad-Core-3Ghz-AM3-8GB-DDR3-Motherboard-and-CPU-Bundle-/400382785844?pt=UK_Motherboards_CPUs&hash=item5d38ac7934 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gigabyte-970A-DS3-AM3-Motherboard-and-AMD-X2-3-0GHz-Dual-Core-CPU-Bundle-Kit-/270955950712?pt=UK_Motherboards_CPUs&hash=item3f163bb278 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gigabyte-970A-DS3-AM3-Motherboard-and-AMD-FX-4170-4-2GHz-X4-Bulldozer-CPU-Bundle-/280864334719?pt=UK_Motherboards_CPUs&hash=item4164d1a37f http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASRock-M5A78L-USB3-AMD-X4-Quad-Core-3Ghz-AM3-8GB-DDR3-Motherboard-and-CPU-Bundle-/400382785837?pt=UK_Motherboards_CPUs&hash=item5d38ac792d the intel boards ive looked at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASUS-P8B75-M-LX-Intel-Dual-Core-G860-3-0GHz-CPU-4GB-1600MHz-Motherboard-Bundle-/300844547068?pt=UK_Motherboards_CPUs&hash=item460bbb7bfc http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASUS-P8H61-MX-USB3-Intel-Dual-Core-i3-3220-3-3GHz-CPU-8GB-Motherboard-Bundle-/360487926689?pt=UK_Motherboards_CPUs&hash=item53eec13ba1 and ill need to find a decent graphics card
  4. EOL? what the heck is that and for the main build about
  5. since my am2 x64 + cpu died yesterday ive been looking into upgrading to a decent cpu and mobo. i have become a very intense gamer over the last several months and i would like to have a system that will run crysis 2 and other high end games comfortably im not sure weather to go intel or amd ive had a look at the am3 and the i3-i5 but with cost been a factor its looking like am3 ASrock 970DE3/U3S3 Motherboard AMD 640 Quad Core X4 3.0GHz AM3 Processor 16GB DDR3 1333 Memory. im not sure what graphics card i want i need it to be fairly cheap but i would like to go 1 gb and ill also need a decent power supply
  6. what i dont get is for £150 i can get 1GB Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX 460 OC Graphics Card which has 336 cores if i wanted to splash out and get a EVGA NVIDIA GTX 480 SC Graphics Card for £341 that only has 480 cores if i wanted to get the crem da le crem of Nvidia i could get Gainward 1536MB GeForce GTX 580 Golden Sample NVIDIA Graphics Card for £447 that only has 512 cores. if i went with the ATi option the XFX 1GB HD 5850 Black Edition Graphics Card for £194 which has 1440 cores that would mean i had 928 cores than the high end Nvidia card at a fraction of the price since the ATi card is £253 cheaper
  7. i would have thought it would run for both vendors
  8. for editing video i use adobe creative suite
  9. for £32 extra i could go for a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Rev 2, Intel X58, S1366, SLi/Xfire PCI-E 2, DDR3 2200<, USB3 & SATA 6Gb/s and a Intel Core i7 950 Bloomfield 45nm, 3.06 GHz, QPI 4.8GT/s, 8MB Cache, 23x Ratio, 130W, Retail but im still not sure if i should go with ATI or Nvidia
  10. at the moment im using scan.com for most of my buying but ive heard good things about overclockers.co.uk
  11. thanks for that terry, i had a am2 and nvidia 88gts back when they were new i couldent seem to notice any noticeable difference even when running the latest games they just seemed to lagg out when nothing elce was useing the system. the 500 drive is for debian or gentoo to nativly reside on
  12. glad to be back on the scene
