I had a friend move to San Francisco and he pays $30/month for like 70-80 Mbps / 30 Mbps. I'd trade my speed for his haha. Hard to get a higher upload speed on residential line.

Paying for 20/1 Mbps and getting 12/1 Mbps (ADSL). Waiting for VDSL to become available here so we can get higher speeds without paying more

Well, we don't get many options around here but at my fiancee's (where I am right now) Here's the speed test right after resetting the modem:

It's 15/1 service so all looks well except for the part where an hour ago it had dropped to 7/1 with a 134ms ping (actually ping in the game I was playing kept spiking to ~800) It's crazy inconsistent.  At this location if you take away the TV discounts it's ~ $70 a month for this crap service, yet that's loads better than AT&T who offers either 6/1 with a 150GB data cap for $50 or for $100 you can get 30/5 with a 250GB data cap.

At my house I've got 20/1 that averages around 18/1 without constant issues for $40 a month through Northstate Communications (small local isp that only covers ~3 cities), my alternate there is TWC with the same 15/1 for $80 a month.

The house we're in the process of buying (same city as I live in now estimated close date June 16th) Northstate offers 80/30 for $45 a month or TWC offers a 100/5 service for $110 (The 20/1 with TWC is around $60 there)

Thats terrible, I live in MN and a pretty rural part of it (small town) and I am getting 65/6 mbps for $50 and I could get internet as fast as 200mbps for about $150.

However my parents live an hour away and they pay $50 a month for 1.5/.5 internet. That is 1.5mbps download, on a good day.

It kind of fluctuates, but I'm almost always above 30 mb/s unless its during peak hours (aka right now).
