Onion Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Its been requested a couple times that I post pictures of the damage, so here it is. Dented tank. Missing left mirror and high beam switch. Pissing coolant. Right side mostly intact. Torn hose and scratched cover. Torn hose and scratched cover other angle. Bonus, me with an ass full of cactus next to my friend's Ducati Monster. Onion Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) Not too bad... Not at all. I softened the blow for the bike, and I also managed to slow it down pretty good before dumping it. My friend saw me crash and told me that I was nearly parallel to the ground with the wheels not touching anymore, still on the bike, with the brake light going on and off as I was trying to gain traction. Obviously someone stole my gopro the same day and I didn't get it on video. EVERYTHING is scratched, though. Fucking cactus. BluePanda Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Well now you can PAINT! haha. At least they are small parts -- so getting an even coat with a spray can isn't the end of the world. Plus its already scratched now, so no more worrying about it. The fuckus is that way -- though I still get grumpy when people throw their door into her or can't figure out how to park or un-park at school and have left paint on my bumpers... I've got plans for painting her this summer -- but yea...scratched == less worry

I've got plans for painting her this summer -- but yea...scratched == less worry Fortunately the only painted part is the tank, which although it'll be a pain in the ass to do a decent job on, it could be worse. The rest is all plastics, which will get a little bit of sandpaper action to smooth them out and then some sweet blue and grey paint to match the scheme of the bike. Other than the tank, the whole thing will look much nicer than it did stock! I still get grumpy at that too, its the lack of respect for other people's shit that drives me nuts. Someone even backed into my car and didn't leave a note!
BluePanda Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Textured plastic (or even slightly texture plastic) is a pita to clean up. The "bumper" on my passenger door had been hit by the last owner. I'm not looking forward to trying to clean it up. Always goes too smooth and doesn't match the rest... "bumper" on the doors -- as in the trim piece that are supposed to keep other doors from dinging yours...
IVIYTH0S Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Could be a lot worse (sounded a lot worse from your intial report), but Y U NO frame sliders THO? I'd invest in some of those if I were you. My FZ actually came with some so I'm set, might get a pair for the rear axle so I'm covered front to back (as I only have the front ones). Hope I never need them but they're wonderful for preventing cosmetic/serious damage

I hate those things, they don't even really work. Could be a lot worse (sounded a lot worse from your intial report), but Y U NO frame sliders THO? I'd invest in some of those if I were you. Cheaper than a new case cover and it'll hide the blemishes.

Sounds good, my dad's VF700 has almost an exoskeleton frame around his motor that he added which I guess is probably the craziest you can get. Mine are just the little nubs, but I've never seen casesavers before. Interesting, it's like armor for exactly what you need it for, while also being streamlined. I can dig it Eagerly awaiting pics of the refurbished product A lot like mah nubs: Edited November 20, 2014 by IVIYTH0S
