UPDATE (4/21/12): Was officially renamed War Thunder: World of Planes awhile back.

World of Planes is being developed by Gaijin Entertainment (Birds of Steel, Wings of Prey, IL-2 Sturmovik, and etc), not to be confused with Wargaming.net (World of Tanks, World of Warplanes, World of Battleships). They do share the similarly of being Russian Developers.

World of Planes is set to be a MMO WW2 flight sim. Plans for 32 vs 32 battles, but says they can support up to 128 vs 128 on each map. What this game will separate itself from World of Warplanes most likely is the addition of ground and naval targets. Planes that support multiple positions allow the player to swap in-between them. However, they haven't mentioned whether or not multi-seated planes will be allowed to co-op with other players.

Currently in alpha testing.
