freddie Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Why not find the hardware id and do a driver search based on that? To get the hardware id: Device manager> select device > properties > details and then hardware id from the drop down menu. Copy the value at the top and google it or paste it into devid.info. If you still can't find it, post it here and I'll see what I can do. This all could have been avoided if you got the drivers before reinstalling windows..

I couldn't get the drivers prior to a reinstall as the harddrive was toast I'll try what you've suggested Thanks

kyfire Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) You could try obtaining a free copy of Belarc Adviser ( http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html ). It's a windows program. Here's info from their web site...... The Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware, network inventory, missing Microsoft hotfixes, anti-virus status, security benchmarks, and displays the results in your Web browser. All of your PC profile information is kept private on your PC and is not sent to any web server. I used it on my system and it provided a 12 page print out about my system, detailing everything in it down to what Windows updates were installed and also a full list of all programs with their keys. Gregzz4 Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 if you got internet working on it go into the Device manager and anything with the Yellow Exclamation point click and then right click and tell it to update the driver via online.... Thanks for the thought, but that didn't work I found one driver on Win update Most of the drivers I was able to get from Lenovo, with a lot of mucking around I had to butcher an old NIC to fit in this case, install AVG Free, and then get .Net 3.5 so I could run Thinkvantage System Update I then found all the drivers I needed and one at a time eliminated the uninstalled device drivers through TSU
Gregzz4 Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) Hey freddie !!!!!!! Thanks for the tip I found the last 2 missing drivers using the hardware id search Stupidly enough, I got them both through the Lenovo TSUpdate They were add-on downloads that I didn't like the sound of Anyway, all is good and I can now do a re-format and a clean install Thanks again I'm outtie as this thread has given me all I need Hope it helps someone else down the road I should clarify for the next guy who ends up where I did .... I originally tried to download the drivers directly from Lenovo Support - bad bad bad - way too many drivers to chose from and the ones that were supposed to be for my OS didn't work ! The only way I solved this issue was to use Thinkvantage System Update Edited November 20, 2012 by Gregzz4
