  1. This is actually a funny post to me. I use them on all electronics. My neighbor asked me what they were. We had a storm roll through here and lighting hit between our houses. Did not bother me, but my neighbor lost a TV, computer, Wii, electric keyboard and garage door opener.
  2. Congrats and welcome. This is the best place to get information, ask questions and read awesome reviews. I learned so much through the years that I closed all other accounts with similar sites. Remember to read the forum rules and be polite when asking questions.

I am keeping the power supply for expandability (more drives, fans etc..). Changed the ram to the suggested which does look much better. I am still torn on the HD, but only because it transmits at 3.0/Gbps and not the 6.0/Gbps. The main issue now is the motherboard. I can not find a MoBo that's AM3+ that seems to be any good. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the critiques so far, I am going to definitely look at the AM3+ board and drop the 3 channel ram. I don't know how long I can hold out before buying. This is a product rig, so you were spot on with that. Don't figure much will be needed in the way of graphics since I was looking very serious at just using the on board video, so I thought I'd throw something in a bit better but not a budget breaker. Keep em coming! off to make some changes.

  6. Raidmax, I gut em then cut em. Then add what I want.
  7. I am in the need of a decent if not awesome Ipod Nano dock in the price range of $75 - $100USD. Any one have any suggestions?
  8. Good luck to all who entered. Enjoy your spoils.
  9. Dang just got home and I thought it would be posted by now. I am drooling waiting for the announcement. Anyway while I am waiting MERRY CHRISTMAS!
  10. I use one very similar to this: http://www.bernzomatic.com/PRODUCTS/TORCHE.../3/Default.aspx It has many applications ranging from soldering, heat shrink, hell even lighting cigarette's...lol. I decided to get one of these a while back, so I can do more things with one tool. It stands up on its own and the trigger says in the on position to keep it hot. It has various tips for it and I have even used it to solder on PCB's. Works great and I bought it at Wal-mart for $30. Just a side note while I am thinking about it, wicking old solder is usually a bad idea due to the loss of control factor that comes with it. It would take very little to bridge the wrong connection and let the magical smoke out. An old cheap way is to get the old solder hot and use a baby bulb (one they use to clean noses out and stuff, cheap at the pharmacy) then suck the solder off. Usually does the trick.

  12. Well I thought I would let everyone know how this story ended. I found out 3 minutes ago that she went out and bought another computer! I was not asked to go along nor was I asked for my blessing on the rig. So I guess it goes to show that with even the most honorable intentions people will still f things up.
  13. Its a catch 22 for me. If I suggest an over priced under powered Dell I am in the same position as if I built it. The added stress to this is I will still have to work on a bloated POS instead of one I put together. This is the conversation I have had over and over with my wife and the conclusion is the same. I might as well build one that I know will be good and deal with the tech as opposed to doing tech on something bloated.
