  1. Ha ha, ho ho, he he. I got it in the UK today. Sorry, trade, so should filter through real soon.
  2. So I had the Asus for just over a week. Then the Gigabyte GA-8INXP was installed. Main differences; In Gigabyte Favour: 1. Looked better built. 2. Dual Power System - aids cooling and performance. 3. ATA133 - now my hard drive is at full spec. 4. EasyTune 4 - good overclocking software, yet to try it properly though. 5. 2 more USB ports. 6. SATA external ports. 7. Lots more features in the BIOS. In Asus Favour: 1. More memory and clocking settings in BIOS. 2. Q-Fan Technology - ooh a quieter system. 3. Voice (POST) Reporter - a gadget I know, but may prove useful in problem times. So, anyone else had experience of either board?
  3. I have my new GA-8INXP motherboard, ATA133 HD, Radeon 9700 Pro (Maya 2), 2 sticks of Corsair XMS3500 (256), P4 3.06GHz. I want to use Gigabyte's Easy Tune 4 software. It allows you to change so much - SYSTEM BUS - in 1MHz steps Memory Voltage - 0.1v difference per click. CPU Voltage - 0.025v difference per click. AGP Voltage Click - 0.1v difference per click. It also allows you to change the following clock settings with the following options; There are 3 modes for AGP/PCI/DRAM clock settings: 1) Linear Mode: In this mode AGP/PCI/DRAM clock figures are change 2) Divider Mode: In this mode you are able to change the divider value of AGP/PCI/DRAM. 3) Async Mode: In this mode you are able to change the AGP/PCI/DRAM clock value individually. This allows you to set the clock setting of the memory. So, should I be using a combination of settings to get a good overclock - if so what is a good starting point. OR - should I just increase the clock settings of the DRAM - if so to what. Also, I have read about CAS SETTINGS with things like 5-2-2-1 or the such. I cannot find these in my motherboard BIOS, so where can I make these changes and what is the best settings to go for. Thanks for all your help.
  4. I too would recommend a Granite Bay motherboard, great for overclocking and that DUAL DDR support. I have used and installed an Asus P4G8X and it is great, BM 15,260. Waiting to try the GA-8INXP now, anyone know anywhere with guaranteed stocks, or am I just a impatient B.
  5. So, the Asus turned up and installed fine. With the Gigabyte Maya 2 Radeon 9700 Pro and the 2x256 Corsair XMS3500 sticks in benchmarked at 15,260 - wicked Now I have uninstalled it all, and expect my Gigabyte board on Monday, I hope, I hope (as this was my first choice). I will let you know my impressions of the two boards after the install.
  6. I think it would be very cool to have a TOP 50 BENCHMARKS. Say, set some boundaries like, LIST SPEC, and REPORT 2 or 3 BENCHMARKS. I know these are dotted about the forums, but it would be great to have a dedicated area.
  7. So the Gigabyte GA-8INXP is delayed again. Supposedly latter part of next week, though some suppliers are hoping to get a few tomorrow. I have had a bit of luck with an Asus P48GX sent out for delivery to me tomorrow - yippppppeeeeee, just worried I will always wonder what I was missing in the Gigabyte. It seems I have traded (asus -> gigabyte) Firewire -> 2 extra ATA133 controllers and Known/Trusted Brand -> Easy Tune (mind you this is still achievable with the Bios on the Asus. ???? -> 6 phase power supply (or is this a gimmick?) Question - is there an easy Windows based util that allows clocking of the Asus Board ? Q - does the Gigabyte Easy Tune software work on only Giga boards ? Still, I will have the Asus and if the Giga turns up, I may re-install to test it all out. MAD !!!!!!!
  8. I tried the Where To Buy link, but it just comes up with an enquiry form (after clicking Europe). So I am now five days into waiting for a reply. Ho hum, I need a price, I want one !!!!!!!
  9. I have fallen in love with the Thermaltake Highest Xaser III V2000+ Super Tower. It can be found here: http://www.thermaltake.com/products/xaser3...3/v2000plus.htm I need to know forum users honest opinions of this case. Also if anyone knows pricing and where I might pick one up in the UK ? Thanks all.
  10. Well I was originally steered towards Corsair XMS2700, but for a bit of future proofing (and only a little more expense), I went for Corsair XMS3500. Where are you getting your mobo from ?
  11. Don't be sad Terminal_Drop, it will be worth the wait. Definitely run them in pairs in a Dual DD mobo. Do you have your mobo yet ? I am still waiting - ANY DAY NOW !!!
  12. Well, I had ordered one through Insight UK, and they emailed me saying they were delayed until 21st January. I spoke with four other resellers, and they said around 16th January. One other said end of January. The UK part of Gigabyte said that the boards were starting to trickle through, but were probably already allocated by the dealers that would be getting them. If I have any further luck (or if anyone else does) please post it here.
  13. Thanks TiM, great link too, it might even lead me to order from outside the UK. Gigabyte boards were delayed again today, so only 5 in the UK this Friday, some problem with the Granite Bay chipset supplies. So I have now ordered the Gigabyte and the Asus and will use whichever one comes first. A supplier and techie I talked too said that the Asus P4G8X was a better board for clocking and will prove more stable. Well, we will see. I just want to get my build done. Any other comments appreciated, plus any ideas of good USA based suppliers that ship to the UK ?
  14. Thanks for the responses. TiM, what is Magic Booster and where can I get it ? Thanks
  15. Agggggghhhh, the question is in the topic title really. I have now ordered my GA-8INXP, but whilst awaiting stock I am now torn between this and the Asus P4G8X. Anyone have any real hardcore spec. differences that make one or the other a better Motherboard ? Or, I am open to suggestions for a winning P4 3.06GHz supporting board ! Thanks.
