Hello, I recently built a new system. I replaced: video card, MB, hard drive, Optical drive, ram, processor, cpu cooler. Only things I am using from the old system is the power supply and the case. The PSU and case are about 3 years old, so not too bad. Ever since then, I have been having blue screen errors. For the record, here is my hardware (dont think it matters but ill post it anyway) - Antec 1200 case - Cooler Master 850W psu - Kingston hyperx 240GB SSD - EVGA gtx 580 gpu - EVGA z68 FTW MB - i7 2600k cpu - 16GB kingston hyperx ram - blu-ray optical About 5 months ago, it would happen every time i had a game open + anything else making sounds (pandora, a stream, etc) open. So I thought it was a video or audio driver problem. I re-installed those drivers, it happened again. I googled how to troubleshoot a blue screen error. I followed everything that had been suggested: - Memory check. I used Memtest86. Check turned up clean. - OS Check. I used microsoft file checker, clean. - Re-installed drivers: Video, audio, chipset, USB 3.0, Ethernet. Using manu site (evga) - Flashed bios to the most current version using menu site (evga) - Scanned for viruses with 3 different programs, clean. - Stress tested my hard drive, video card, and ram. Tests ran fine with no problems. After all of this, I was still blue screening. I asked myself what other programs I had installed recently, and there was nothing out of the ordinary. So I decided to wipe my HD. I wiped my HD partitions, I reset my RAM setting back to default (from 1600 back to 1333). I then had about a 3-4 month period of NO BLUE SCREENS. I installed all of the same software and drivers, back to what it was when I was having persistent BSODS. It wasnt happening, no matter how many programs I had open, or what I was doing. And now all of the sudden, with no changes to the hardware or software from my 4 month non-bsod period, and now im bsod'ing several times a day again. I tried programs like 'WhoCrashed' to find out what was causing it, if it was a driver, and it couldnt pick up anything because my computer wasnt making dump files. I googled how to make sure that it made them, made the changes, and it still doesnt make a dump file. The error code is something to the effect of 0x00000f4, which i looked up, and it's just a generic crash code that doesnt mean anything, and thats basically all it tells me. Here is a small detail about the crash: When I bsod, I let the computer sit while it "collects the dump information" (and doesnt create the dump file for some reason) and then it resets itself after about a minute or so. As it is booting, it prompts me to select a bootable device and reset. What? It doesnt want to boot to my HD. I turned off the comptuer, let it sit for 30 seconds, and turned it back on. I checked the bios, and my HD is recognized by the bios. It then successfully boots to windows again. I dont know what to troubleshoot anymore, but I have a gut feeling that my hard drive is failing on me, or that the connection to the HD is being severed somehow, or that my PSU is failing. But, I cant confirm any of that or even get a slight hint towards any of that other than what I have said thus far. What should I do? Thanks.

Hi, Just recently I started to get semi-constant blue screen errors. I get about one every day, and today I got 2. The first one was 3 days ago. I dont remember installing any new drivers or software during that time. The only software I loaded in the past 3 days (besides the troubleshooting tools) is World of Warcraft patches. I have spent a lot of time doing google searches on what I can do to troubleshoot it, and everything I come up with is very confusing for me. I tried the most common suggestion: making sure all my drivers were up to date. I went to the appropriate websites and downloaded drivers. I installed motherbaord chipset, motherboard audio, GPU drivers. Even then, I am still getting BSOD. One thing that I have found in common with most of my search results is to get this program called BluescreenView to see which driver is causing the stop error. However, this program doesnt work for me because I dont have a 'minidump' folder. I am running Win 7 64 bit. I tried going a memory check and hard drive OS scan using the Windows 7 utilities. All scans came up empty; I didnt find any problems. I tried another common suggestion: flashing my bios with the current version. I have an EVGA Z68 FTW motherboard, so I went to EVGA's site, downloaded the most recent bios flashing tool, and ran it. I've never flashed a bios before, so I followed the instructions on the ReadMe that it came with. Apparently it flashes my bios and then shuts down my computer, taking less than 5 seconds? Is that normal? After that, I went back into my bios and re-set my kingston hyperX ram back to 1600, as it is designed to be. If I get another BSOD, I will flash my bios again and leave the RAM at 1333, as my MB defaults it to. However, the RAM i bought was specifically designed to be overclocked to 1600, and the MB I have is designed for 1600 rated RAM. Is there anything else I can try? I would like to know which process or driver is causing this BSOD. BluescreenView doesnt work, so is there another way? Thanks.

Ok it looks like there is no other way to do this other than the phone.

So if my motherboard blows up, and I have to buy a new one, I would have to call microsoft and actually speak to someone to get my license transfered over to my new motherboard? This doesnt even make sense to me :S There has to be a more simple way to do this lol

Ok thanks. But, how does a full non-eom version work then? I read that those can be used as many times as you want, but only on 1 PC at a time. Will my previous installation be deactivated if I install the OS again using a different computer? If so, what will happen to all of my information on the last PC?

On sc2: My temp is the same on the main profile/loading/queing w/e you want to call it screen, as a game with units maxed out and everything on the screen at once. That makes no sense at all to me.. Maybe I should speak to EVGA technitians about how to properly set up my precision to reach my end goal of lowest temp to lowest RPM ratio. I am greatful for the comments here but I guess it is unrealistic for someone to tell me how to configure it if they dont have identicle equipnment that I have. I am still worried about high RPM's. I have never in my life had any fans on anything in a computer reach these kinds of RPM's and/or noise level. The card I used before was a evga 9800 gtx+ and it never had these kinds of fan speeds under load. Yeah I couldnt max out everything I played, but I put everything as high as the card would allow with good frame rates. I registered my card with evga so I am elligible for the warrenty, but I really dont want to have to deal with that lol. It would be bad enough not having a working computer for any amount of time, let alone waiting for them to fix my card or send me a replacement. About my case: It is an antec 1200 (i think). It has 3 120mm fans in front, a huge one on top, a 120 on the side and 2 120's in the back. I dont have anything set to maximum speed, it is all on medium. My case is a tiny bit "stuffy" in terms of cords and hardware, but it isnt bad. The only fan that is really blocked is the bottom front one because I dont have a module PSU, and it really isnt even completely blocked off either. I dont really know how I would tell if the airflow in my case was working optimally or not. Temp in the room is around 68-75, depends on if the heater is on. Doesnt really go above 75 usually though.

Hello, I have a general question about installing Windows 7 Ultimate (or any other version) on more than 1 computer. I bought the full version (not OEM) of Windows 7 Ultimate. I heard/read that I was only allowed to use this software for 1 computer. I've also read that the software serial number is bound to the motherboard that you install it on. I read that the OEM software can only be used one time. Well what happens if I install it on another computer? I read that the full version can be used to install on more than 1 computer, but only used on 1 computer at a time. What would happen if I took this software and put it on another computer? If I decide to rebuild a computer using different hardware, what happens here? How does the OS recognize that I am using a different machine and how does it update itself to know that I am no longer using the old system? Bottom line: Do I have to buy a separate OS for each computer I own? Thanks.

Hello, I bought 16 GB of kingston hyper x 1600 RAM. I've read a ton of reviews for all kinds of RAM, and the general consensus says that this brand of RAM is the best and biggest bang for the buck and it is very good quality memory. I read that you will most likely have to go into the BIOS and set it to 1600 mhz from 1333. Well, ok. I've never done anything like that in the bios before, so I went looking around and I found the area where I make that setting change. I changed the setting to 1600. Now, is this all I have to do? Do I have to adjust ANY other settings (like the voltage or timing)? I have the EVGA Z68 FTW Motherboard. Thanks.

This card handles everything I have on max settings. That isnt tha part I am worried about. I need someone to help me optimize the fan control so I get the lowest temperature while getting the RPM's as low as possible. I dont overclock anything either. Also I am playing crysis 2 at max graphic settings and the temp doesnt go above 75C at any time, but for some reason Sc2 it does.

Hello, I have some questions and concerns regarding my gpu temperature. I have a EVGA GTX 580 3GB, and I use the evga Precision software for temp monitoring. Does anyone know the threshold of temperature with this card? How hot can it get before it becomes at risk of shutting down? I am playing starcraft 2 with settings maxed. FPS over 80-90 the entire time no matter what is on the screen. However, the temperature just reached 86C. This looks dangerous to me. I went into Precision and enabled the 'software automatic fan control' and the temperature will not go past 70C. This seems really good. But, the fan is getting as high as 3030 RPM's. Now its THIS that seems really high. I dont want to burn out the fan motor lol. Can anyone explain to me if I am in a good or a bad spot here? I really dont know anything about temperatures and fan control.

wow Ok, after further research, it appears that 99% of users of my gpu are having FPS problems. that sounds terrible given how much this damn thing costs lol. hope they fix it soon.

Ok fraps works, but im only getting 30 fps playing batman archam city on a gtx 580 3GB. this seems extremely low. what do you guys think?

Ok i will look. The last time i looked at fraps it was like 5 years ago? lol....back then i think it was very limited as to what it did. thanks for suggestion. if any1 knows any other programs feel free to post. thanks again.

Hi, Is there a program out there that constantly monitors and measures frames per second? I am curious to see what my card pulls on different games. Anyone have any good suggestions?
