  1. all that makes me do is want to get a 5870 right now!
  2. can't find it but i've seen mention of the pipe itself when under load hitting 140 degrees...put your finger on it next time you gaming. i find hits for temps of 98c on the gpu but not the couple of articles mentioning the heat pipes. the point is the pipes displace heat and they are partially exposed, that has to bring your case temp up...no way to get around that.
  3. nice find...will check it out right now
  4. i found a couple of gtx 295's for 330 to 345 on google shopping search engine...one of those would be like a gtx 480 almost but using less power, quieter and less heat. if it wasn't because of the 8 pin pcie plug i would be all over it. it's like the old cards drop off the face of the earth man.
  5. all the reviews i've seen mention the heat pipes hitting 140 degrees. who wants that heat in the case?
  6. i considered that. but there isn't a single gpu dx11 card out there that can deliver 60 fps on bfbc2 with every single setting maxxed out. maxed out dx10 looks almost as good and you have to be really looking even at screen shots to find the difference between dx10 and dx11 bfbc2
  7. i don't hate it. i dislike all the silly discussions that occur around it. i remember this one idiot last year wrote on the bf2142 forums that he saw extra particles in explosions after installing the physx system software. as far as the caps go...my understanding is caps means you are yelling or screaming...so the use was proper. kiss my butt if you don't like it.
  8. dude you are a folding master. i have some clothes you can fold for me. lol j/k that's my point. i run into all these forums where people talk about physx but what could become of Physx is 100% limited by nvidia. could a physics card do an awesome job? yes...but since only one company has the goods game companies can't invest good effort into it. they just pay it lip service. UT3 had good Physx maps to showcase what can be done, yet BFBC2 didn't bother with PHYSX. i ask WHY? TBH Physx is something that can fit in the same card as your gpu with todays's tech. the original physx card from AGEIA is all the power needed to run Physx. gives a use to old video cards if you have dual pci-e slots but nothing to get excited about or loose sleep over.
  9. saw the trailer...didn't see anything that Havok isn't doing for other games. don't get me wrong, i have an nvidia card but i realized that physx will never be 100% accepted because it's owned by nvidia. nothing more than a marketing ploy to sell more games and cards.
  10. You really can tell the difference between a 5850 and a gtx470 on the games you play without having an FPS counter? because they are at the same performance level. meaning they perform very close to each other. in games released in the last 12 months they'll be within an average of 10 fps on max settings. hardly a reason to "upgrade". it says "guys, look...i spent $350 for 10 more fps!!! awesome!" when i upgrade i go up at least 3 performance levels. my next card will perform at 5870 level or better. will i tell the difference, hell yeah...i'm be able to max out my favorite game bfbc2 which i can't do now. went from stock p4 3.0/ati x600 to x1950pro to c2d e6750 x1950pro to gts512 g92...in other words went from playing bf2142 on low settings to medium settings to max settings(same card, new cpu) to 90+ fps. now that's performance worth upgrading for. now i have a q9550 cpu and my gts512 runs bfbc2 ok in medium settings. when i get a new card i will just about max it. waiting for the market to cool though. things are overpriced right now. if i could find an old gtx295 dual gpu card i would get it just because it performs close to gtx480 and should cost almost 200 dollars less.
  11. too bad i got here too late. not too familiar with AMD CPU performance levels compared to Intel but for the record that gtx 470 is going to be held back by that AMD cpu unless it performs on the level of a Q9550 in the near future. if you play BFBC2 you will probably experience your FPS are less with a gtx470 than people with faster quad core cpu's.
  12. takes load away from the processor in most games? say it with me "PHYSX ONLY WORK ON GAMES THAT ARE CODED FOR IT. IT HAS ZERO IMPACT ON MOST GAMES!"
  13. I'm curious, what PHYSX supporting game will you be playing? there are only less than 5 games worth checking out and none worth the going through the trouble of do what you are doing. I have played games with PHYSX, i fine the effects pleasing but not much better than Crysis, BFBC2, FC2, Crysis 2 and the DUNIA engine offer. As it turns out high end systems can produce great physics without having specific hardware to do it. PHYSX is just a marketing ploy to make people buy Nvidia cards and it's apparently working. Havok is far more popular and found in far better games. Game makers use Havok because it works with anything, no extra card required.
  14. this is just a beta. all the talk is about the 400 series cards, what about older cards?
  15. you do know that having physx installed does NOTHING for games that do not use physx games?
