  1. Hi Angry! thanks for checking it out BTank has been very helpfull and other than the 'Unknown CPU Type' which is annoying in the boot process everything seems to be fine. The results of my best attempt to overclock-> http://www.users.on.net/~footleg/wp/clocked2.jpg benchmarks with Sisoft Sandra says this machine ROCKS now.
  2. yeah doesnt appear in the boot up post well i done some clocking i AM a n00b to clocking hows this: http://www.users.on.net/~footleg/wp/clocked1.jpg

  4. yeah , i upgraded the bios using the floppy as you said there it also asks for another file , to save the old bios i think, i just called it 'oldbios.bin' then followed the instructions to the T regarding powering down , clearing cmos , loading defaults, rebooting setting up bios etc it posts as 'UNKNOWN CPU TYPE 2000mhz' does the athlon 2400 boot as 2000mhz? cpuid image-> http://www.users.on.net/~footleg/wp/amd2400.jpg would the bios for the ad73-pro be of any use to me?
  5. Hollolooo writes: .. but wait, here I found a Beta-Bios from 2003/02/11: http://www.dfi.com.tw/Upload/BIOS/6A6LVD4D1.BIN "1.Add "Promise RAID control" function (to Disable/Enable onboard RAID) 2.To Support AMD thoroughbred CPU" ......... yeah used that bios.. nowhere in the setup is there anything for disabling the Promise, did it via a jumper. and i have no idea if i flashed it right.. there is no instructions in this forum and the DFI page doesnt make it PLAIN.. like.. what is this second file the flash wants? *shrugs* oh and.... did you read my post aboive yours, and view the image?
  6. its ok , i think i worked it out... it will only boot showing 2000mhz as thats the way AMD boots , its not going to show 2400mhz however..... how do i fix it so it boots to AMD XP Processor and not 'unknown cpu' CPUID image http://www.users.on.net/~footleg/wp/amd2400.jpg
  7. HAYYYYYLP i installed the XP2400+ CPU I also installed DDR pc3200 ram 1x 512mb I removed my old mobo and placed the DFI mobo in my system and it posted with 'unknown cpu 2000mhz' it booted into windows xp fine and installed stuff like pci bridge, usb controllers etc etc I downloaded the latest official bios flash from the dfi site I also read these forums carefully on upgrading the bios including , a power down and clearing cmos with the jumper immediately after the flash upgrade the bios on post shows as the latest inthe bottom left corner, there is also an option there to press ALT+f2 to access 'awdflash' but this did nothing It still posts as 'Unknown CPU 2000mhz' I have been everywhere in the bios and adjusted agp to 4x and fsb mhz to 266mhz it wont let me change the cpu clock What do i do now guys?
  8. ok thanks.. I'm in australia , could you guys provide me a link to what you feel is the cheapest and most reliable store to buy a CPU?
  9. Well the Manual (written in 2000) says it suppords 266mhz up to 2100+ so i am assuming 2400+ at 266mhz will be ok
  10. ok cheers now, your not saying it will take a faster processor are you? like into 333mhz etc? i am glad it will boot with any chip and allow me to build -> download the updated bios
  11. hi I was just given this motherboard and would like to build it up I understand the XP2400 chip is the biggesty it will take @ 266mhz Will the chip go right on in , or will the bios need to be upgraded before the board will accept this chip? thanks in advance
