Bit more cpu juice?

Ah, I didn't even notice that.

 

I'd just set it down at 200 MHz and work with the multiplier.

FSB at 200 = 733 memory. The memory needs to be at 800. The FSB and memory is stuck together, so reducing the FSB reduced my memory figures.

 

I reset the CPU back to 3.84ghz and the FSB at 240. See the attachment to prove a higher CPU setting actually slowed down the DX11 P score.

Okay, got the adjustments in the BIOS to supposedly do the changes you suggested. But it dropped my 3DMark11 score by 25%. Will this slow up my games as well?

Here are the BIOS figures. New and old:

The 3900 mhz 3DMark11 = 5638

The 3840 mhz 3DMark11 = 7488

 

When you mention corrupting things, are you thinking that there may be to much heat generated by the motherboard?

Also, if the multi is raised a lot will that bring the performance back up to what it was before?

I know it's a lot of questions but I didn't grow up with technology so it takes a while for me to get it.

 

OCCT Vcore showed 1.44 volts to 1.47 volts. Temp was max of 32deg. C. Ambient is 18deg. C. Wintertime here. Bios AI tweaker shows 1.5 volts and BIOS hardware monitor = 1.456Volts.

Which one is correct? AI tweaker or hardware monitor? Does .044 volts make a difference?

OCCT 3.3 volts shown as being a constant 1.15 volts. But the BIOS hardware monitor shows it as 3.328 volts.

25% seems a bit extreme...you can raise the NB link and HT link speed back up to 2400 by adjusting the multiplier for them (assuming it's stable). I'm a bit surprised there's that much of a difference though.

 

By corrupting things I mean if your CPU is unstable it will sometimes get the "wrong answer" to things it's calculating which can cause data corruption. This will eventually mess up your Windows install and in extreme cases can essentially ruin any data on your HDD.

 

The voltages are different because they're being monitored by software (and possible measuring different sensors). I'm fairly sure the hardware monitor is the correct value, I have the feeling the AI tweaker is showing you the requested voltage and not the actual load voltage. Either way, that voltage is safe especially with water cooling.

 

OCCT reads the sensors on my board incorrectly as well. I wouldn't worry about any of them to be honest - your PSU is decent and if it goes bad you'll know it long before any software tells you.

Thanks Waco. That is the best bit of info for me. I can take the CPU higher than 3.84 but I might have to boostCPU/NB or just leave it at the old settings. They were very stable.

Spike, in the PCmark 7 thread you pointed out to me that my 965 is running on 2 cores. You are correct. I found the AMD CPU forum and joined. It seems that some AMD CPU's lost a core or 2 and this has happened to me. I don't know where I should be posting but as this thread was the first place I complained about a drop in benchmark performance I feel I should mention it here. I copied and pasted the link in case anybody else has a similar problem.

Reseating the CPU helped one guy. I'm going to do that now.

That's the same way I'd do it, seems every phenom 2 I've had didn't like havivg fsb pass 205 mhz.
