  1. No there is no molex connector, and it was actually harder because i spent the night working on the project, I knew it would take a whole lot of time so I couldn't just stay there. Swapping the components would have been the easiest way. The system is working now but still same problem If i put the ram sticks in position 3 and 4. No dice and still don't know what is happening
  2. I keep my BIOS up to date so its not an outdated BIOS version problem im sure of that. When i replaced my friend's CPU back in his board it still wouldn't turn on. I cannot honestly make any sense out of this situation. What I did notice tho is that when I insert a ram stick in dimms 3 or 4 or both the system wouldn't boot and keep on doing like what i mentioned earlier. However, if I placed both ram sticks in 1 and 2 ( consider the first dimm the one on the left and closest to the CPU , so 1| 2| 3| 4| ) the system boots normally .. I managed to go in windows and everything like nothing had happened. I tried re-putting a RAM stick in the other dimms ( 3 and 4 ) but the system wouldn't boot again, removed that stick in 3 or 4 and the system booted normally. So its the RAM dimms? Could there be a problem with those ?
  3. I have my BIOS updated, so thats not the issue. And tried resitting the CPU, that didnt help either
  4. I had a project to do so needed a friend's i7 and i swapped CPUs. When i powered the system on, it turned on for about 3 seconds then it restarted on its own. It kept on restarting till I took the power cable out. Tried to turn the second PC on and it has the same problem My Pc specs : - P8P67 pro - i5 2500 - cfx MSI 7950 twin frozr 3 - XFX pro series 850W - 16 GB corsair vengeance Friend's PC specs : - MSI z77a-g45 - i7 3770 - MSI 7950 twin frozr 3 - Crosair CX 750W - 16 GB kingston hyperx blue I took his i7 and RAM for a render project and this happened after i swapped the CPUs. What could be the problem here ? Any solution you guys could suggest ?
  5. I see you went with AMD CPU, no fanboyism from my part but suggest a change. I will give u a list of items that i think you should change : Case : get the 932's bigger brother for just a 20$ difference. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119225 CPU : if u wanna overclock : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504 if u wont overclock : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115233 Motherboard : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131854 ram : all ram is fine it doesnt matter but i had my experience with these and i recommend them. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345 And to answer yr second question, watercooling isnt a NEED but it brings a huge benefit if you will be overclocking that CPU. If not then not worth it in my honest opinion and i dont wanna sound stupid but what is that ? " Thermaltake CLW0211 Bigwater 760 Plus Dual Bay Drives Water Cooling Core i7 Compliant "
  6. SSDs are still too expensive to consider them as storage devices. Even at 200$ for a 256 GB drive, for a person like me who needs around 12 TB for media storage it is a pocket burner. So its basically both
  7. My top 5 : - Dragon Quest VIII journey of the cursed king ( PS2 ) - Final fantasy series VII & XII ( PS2 ) - Skyrim ( PC ) - Dragon age origins ( PC ) - Fallout 3 ( PC ) After this is a long list but really, i love them all. Fable seiries, the rest of the final fantasies, shadow heart series. Every single game of those gave me the time of my life. And the irony that most of those awesome games are on PS2. I am the number 1 PC fan and always have been. But RPG games line-up on PS2 probably is considerably the best compared to the other platforms. PS : Playstation 2 Emulation on PC FTW !
  8. Just bumping this thread up cause no one noticed it :/
  9. I really like to think all those are in one single system
  10. 850W here, more than i need but still like to keep good power headroom ahead for my hardware
  11. Greatings guys, Friend of mine is planning on a new system build but knows nothing so asked me for help. If it was a game oriented rig the choice to go with ivy and a beefy GPU is easy and could have handled it myself. But the guy is an architect and needs to do a lot of Photoshop, 3D-max and use many design oriented software so it got me thinking. I know rendering needs a hell lot more RAM than gaming so i should include more ram, but yet again, is it really necessary to go for something as high as high end gaming card for 3D-max and such ? ( considering its a limited budget so i cant go all high i have to skim on some stuff ). So i have a list of questions to ask and hope you guys could help me out here for i am confused on what to get him ; 1 ) The CPU, I7 is a must here since all the software mentioned above utilize hyper-threading and 8 cores will be a good bonus, but question is will it be worth it going LGA2011 ( looking at i7 3820 not 3930k or 3960x ) or rendering gain between it and Ivy's 3770k is not worth shifting to x79 platform ? 2 ) The GPU, he has a 1080p monitor so i'm thinking about a 7950 would be enough, but still not sure what do you guys think ? Now what got me thinking here is that i once read that the above software barely use GPU acceleration in rendering so the GPU is basically for satisfying the gaming purposes of the rig, and at 1080p a 7950 will be ample. And if the budget gets very tight i may have to downgrade this to 7870. 3 ) Will an SSD really help rendering performance ? EDIT : 4 ) forgot to ask this, about memory, the more the better for rendering, but does memory clocks matter in rendering ? Meaning will getting 1866 MHz memory benefit anything ? Problem i will be facing is that the budget is very tight and what will make it worse is that i live in Lebanon so i will have to ship everything here from USA ( because ****** ********* ************ ************** *************** this country and availability here ) so it will cost us a fortune to ship these. Initial budget is 1500$ but we will consider it 1000$ for shipping purposes. And note : there will be not overclocking whatsoever involved and all on stock coolers including CPU ( unless the 3820 doesn't come with cooler ill get a low end cooler just to run the thing ) . Thanks everyone for reading and hope you could help me out
  12. Problem is I live in Lebanon, most companies refuse Lebanese credit cards. Even buying online and shipping stuff here is impossible i'm afraid. I can only order online through amazon.com, only online store that actually takes my creditcard. But still, if i manage to get the game ( regardless of how or where ), If i manage to get it will i be able to register it on steam and play ?
  13. Guys i wanted to pre-order the game but couldn't because it says the game is not available in my country, and i cant seem to find borderlands 2 in the steam store. Its all fine although i really wanted to pre-order it, but the problem is now that i was wondering, If it happens that i buy the game retail, and activate it on my current owned account, will it register ? or give me are restriction problems or whatsoever ?
  14. I also have a free invite if anyone wishes just PM me would gladly send it
