Building New System...

Well, I'm potentially building a new system of my own (just need that damn wife approval). I am a firm believer of more eyes being better than a single pair. Does anyone see any obviously bad choices, parts that could be swapped for roughly the same price, or places to shave off a few bucks?

Case: NZXT Apollo Black SECC Steel Chassis ATX Mid Tower

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3L

CPU: Intel i5 750

RAM: g.Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600

GPU: XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB

PSU: Corsair CMPSU-650TX 650W Ethusiast Series

HSF: XIGMATEK Dark Knight with i5 bracket kit

I'm not in need of drives, keyboard, mouse, or other peripherals, as they will be coming over from my old system.

I should probably include my usage information. I use my system primarily for WoW, but also play some games on the side (currently Mass Effect 3 and Left 4 Dead 2). I might also be doing some video capture and editing in the future, but I expect it its capable of the above it shouldnt be an issue.

Sorry to say I see the entire build as well not right.

Go with LGA1155 not 1156

i5 2500k and apropriate motherboard my rec going to a z68

wait I wont go on with what isn't right, instead here you go

CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072 - $224 much better option in all aspects

Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271 - $130 solid mobo with great features and excelent price

Ram - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231308 - $39 8GB much better than 4GB and not much more cost

Case - Up to you with what you like but imo there are plenty of other options in the same price range which look nicer imo just me tho

PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703027 - $90 after rebate and a silver rating with 7 years warranty to boot oh and a bit more power than what you were looking at

CPU Cooler - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 - $34 better cooler option if you would spend what you were going to you should get a noctura d14 or phanteks cooler or silver arrow

GPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102967 - $149 and dirt 3 for free it is better in all ways and in cf it scales far better

from memory the money i just saved you on mobo and cooler mainly you could squeeze quite probably for two 7770s from the get go

:withstupid:

Though I Think you're better off with a 6870 then a 7770... Priced very closely but the 6870 has a better performance (but 7770 benefits from 22nm and ZeroCore tech)

XFX Double D HD-687A-ZDFC - $149.99 after MIR and also Dirt3 for free

Also the RAM, nothing much but I'd rather go with DDR3 1600

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600 - $44.99 and also a match with the board color that Stonerboy has mentioned (a minor plus)

Seconded. I was typing almost an identical reply until I scrolled down and saw this. lol.

I'll be building my second 2500K build in a week or two. It's going to look something like this:

Intel Core i5-2500K ($225)

Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 ($150)

Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 8GB ($43)

XFX HD 6870 ($180)

Corsair Force 3 60GB SATA3 ($90)

Corsair HX850 PSU ($135)

Corsair Obsidian 800D ($280)

I'm possibly going to wait for Kepler to launch before buying a GPU. If I do wait, I'll use my old 5770 temporarily. I'm also looking at a Seasonic modular 750watt power supply instead of the Corsair.

With all the combo deals and rebates the build is only $990 with a $280 case. It really comes down to nVidia though, if they impress me enough to drop more dough on a new Kepler card the total may increase. We'll see.
