That and you no longer need to buy two cards to use the whole 3D Surround ecosystem. This for a price point that is palatable. If you want something with less power consumption and less heat, you get a smaller card. And yet these are still big bucks. Thinking about the kind of person who would buy them, I'm guessing they are kind of people who won't mind water cooling them either. That's what I would be planning to do if I was even considering getting either, plus I would probably want more than one to make it worth my while. Otherwise two single GPU cards in Crossfire / SLI just make far more sense, at least to me. Two single GPU cards are going to be easier to cool (with air anyway), less massive in terms of length (though I'm impressed with NVIDIA on squeezing the size of the GTX 590 down to only half an inch more than a GTX 580) and likely be cheaper for the same performance. Less power, less power consumption, less heat, high price? If you want all that stuff you get a lower end card that costs hundreds less... You want to max out your FPS you get 49x and 59xx series cards. *EDIT* Or you SLI. 700 bucks is a lot of money for anything. The goals for this card were met. Its just that this is a solution that needs more clocks to really be competitive. It meets the goals set for the card with the exception of being the fastest card out and that is left open to interpretation based on the game titles you play. CM Storm Scout only supports up to 10.6in. My 570 is 10.5in and to put it in I had to unplug the SATA connectors and PSU. (The SATA connectors are up against the card so they were in the way when trying to slide it in place. The PSU's cables have to go over the card because they're too short to try to get around it behind the motherboard and there isn't room to go to the side of the card.) So 11in is just over my limit. Of course, if a company changes the PCB and cuts down the length I still wouldn't buy it, but it could fit. I just got the 570, why would I want to change it this generation? Then the 6990 is 12.5in.
