kennethk Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Since my laptop has an extra bay area open I was thinking about getting a small SSD and put it in for windows boot time alone, But since windows 10 is coming would it fit on a 32gb ssd? I'm thinking its a no. I have the technical preview installed on a 240gb ssd in my desktop but not sure if that's going to be the final install size. bp9801 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 If all you'll have is Windows on it, you may be OK with a 32GB SSD. I have a fairly recent (within the last two and a half months) install of Windows 8.1, and that is only at 16GB for the Windows folder alone. Something like a 64GB SSD would probably be best, since it generally isn't a good idea to have an SSD filled so close to capacity. 32GB is the bare minimum I'd feel comfortable recommending for a Windows install, provided you have plenty of other storage options available. Otherwise, 64GB or higher imo.
cjloki Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 right, and doesn't windows grow in size as the updates are added ?...i'd think a little bigger would be better...

I think the Windows folder on my Win 7 rig was around 45GB after a year and a half (maybe two years). So yeah, depending on how often reformats are done, 64GB would then be the minimum size.
