  1. Where abouts are you based? The reason I ask is shipping to the UK is usually very expensive... Sorry for the delaying in posting. Its been so long I thought no one would reply. I'm in the US in California. I will ship to the UK, but not for free. I should have put Within the US on the original post but I forgot.
  2. Oh, thank you! That I did not know. Odd that the motherboard and cpu are in the same generation and it doesn't support it. Glad I'll be getting a new CPU/Motherboard soon.
  3. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z68V_PROGEN3/ That is the motherboard I have. It is PCI Express 3.0 capable but GPU Info shows my video card running as 2.0. The NVidia driver control panel also shows it running in 2.0 mode. I can't find any reference in the BIOS that sets the PCI-E slot as 2 or 3. Does it auto change when I start a game up since the bandwidth isn't needed when I'm not playing a game? I do plan on getting an i7 4770k and this motherboard soon so its not that big of an issue but I'm curious why it shows as that anyways. When I put the video card in this weekend I did do a wipe of the old drivers and installed the new drivers. Is it something I even need to worry about?
  4. Looking to sell my EVGA GTX 570 video card. I just upgraded my video card and no longer need it. The card is healthy and runs great. It has been treated very well and kept mostly dust free. I bought it from newegg about 2 years ago. I'm asking $150 shipped. If you are interested, e-mail me at [email protected] or text me at (209) 752-7227. I will consider reasonable offers if you wish to make one. I will check the back here at least one daily so my e-mail or texting would be a better avenue to use. http://minus.com/i/bfSLQOnh009hY
  5. Finally got around to buying the card today. Ended up getting http://www.amazon.com/GTX770-DC2OC-2GD5-GeForce-256-bit-PCI-Express-OC-selected/dp/B00D3F7CFK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398405085&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+gtx+770 I know the 800 series is coming out in the next few months but honestly, my GTX570 is just now starting to not keep up anymore so I doubt I'll be needing an 800 series or their new pricetags any time soon. I'm sure i could have waited a few months and have the price drop for the 770 but hey...I'm not known for being the patient type. I doubt I'll be gaming higher than 1080p only because I don't plan on upgrading my monitor any time soon. If I do, its going to be an IPS monitor and those are quite expensive higher than 24" and those tend to run at 1080p.
  6. Sorry for the delayed response, work and kids, they take up a lot of time. I'm upgrading for gaming purposes. I run my games at 1080p as that is my monitor's native resolution. I will eventually upgrade to a 27" monitor with a higher resolution, but I want an IPS monitor for the photography work I do and those tend to get a bit more expensive. I'm going to get Titanfall and though I know my 570 will play it just fine, I do have Battlefield 4 which runs a bit slow at times. I usually have to turn my settings down. I am playing Diablo 3 right now with the expansion and though not graphically intensive, it has been 'hiccuping' lately. Not sure why, my computer is more than capable enough to run it. May be a driver or something. There are a few games coming up that I want to play too that will need a better video card to run it on max settings. I will probably end up going with the 770.
  7. I've been out of the loop on current computer components for a bit now with kids, work, kids, kids, kids....they never stop....but am looking to upgrade my GTX570 and figured I'd ask for a couple suggestions. I have no loyalty to NVidia and I've heard some good things about the new AMD 280 line but most of that is from paid reviewers. I'd rather get some thoughts from people who have them and use them instead of just review them for a living. My budget is about $300 for a card but that is flexible to a certain degree. My specs in my signature is current.
  8. CPU: Intel Core i7 2700k @ 4.5Ghz Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 RAM: 16gb G.SKILL Sniper Series DDR3 1866 Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 CPU Cooler: CORSAIR H100 Powersupply: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 650D Optical: Lite-On 24x DVD Burner Hard Drive: OCZ Vertex 2 120GB • Western Digital 2TB Speakers: Soon to be Corsair SP2500, currently Logitech z5300e Country USA
  9. Well, the last post to the thread was in April so i figured no one would mind if I posted on it especially since its specifically about the SP2500s. But thanks for the reply. I don't get to play my stuff loud as I have two kids and a wife, but when they aren't home, its time to bump em.
  10. I currently have a set of Logitech z5300e speakers running them in 2.1 mode since I don't have the right wall set up to put them 5.1 Anywho, how do the SP2500s compare? I know my z5300 speakers are quite old. Going on 8+ years. Everything still sounds pretty good, but I'd like to upgrade and maybe stick these in my garage to hook my phone up to when I'm out there. I play games still, but I mostly like to turn up the music when no one else is home. I definitely want as much bass as I can get for a decent price. If the walls aren't shaking, its just not fun. Would these SP2500s do that for me? I build a new computer every couple of years but my speakers are the one item I never upgrade so I really don't know much about them. Also, I'm on motherboard audio right now. Do sound cards matter that much these days? I mean, I can do 7.1 DTS, I have optical out and all the rest. If so, any recommendations? EDIT Just found this review: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1492/ On page 3, the reviewers say they were using the z5300s for years just like me and talked about the two compared. I think I'm sold on the SP2500s. I've been wanting a new set of speakers for a few months now and am glad I finally found a set. I've been gearing for a 5.1 system, but I don't even use the 5.1 I have now. I'd still like any ideas on whether or not the motherboard audio is good enough or if a sound card will really give me that much of a difference. I dont' want to spend a lot on a sound card either.
  11. This is the exact card: http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/AMD_Series/EAH48702DI1GD5/ I built a new gaming rig and this is the last part to go from my old one. I'm asking $50 plus shipping. Flat rate box will cost 11.35. Total amount is 61.35 shipped. Paypal only and we can exchange that info. First person to say they want it will get it.
  12. I'd like to revive this topic. I bought the e4200 from BestBuy and it set up well. I bought the 5ghz USB adapter for my computer and that was fine. My work iPad connected fine but both my DroidX and my wife's Thundebolt refused to connect. The only way they would connect is with all encryption turned off. WEP/WPA/WPA2 and WPA/WPA2 mixed mode all didn't work. I need a new wireless router because we bought a Transformer Prime tablet and it doens't like my current Netgear N router. My question is do you guys think there was something wrong with the e4200 which caused my phones not to connect? Would the e2000 or e3000 fare better? I'm a fan of ASUS (except their customer service) so I'd be willing to give that one a shot. Do any of you have one of the e-series Linksys routers connected to either a DroidX or Thunderbolt by chance and have no issues?
  13. Sorry guys, the computer sold already. I tried to reply but my router died on me and I just got back online. Thanks for the replies though. If I happen across any more stuff, I'll be sure to post.
  14. I'd like to sell the computer in a complete state to make my life easier, but since I doubt that will happen, I'm open to parting it out too. CPU: AMD Phenom II 955 Black Edition [unlocked multiplier] (Can run at 3.9Ghz stable) $100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103674 Video Card: ASUS EAH4870/2DI/1GD5 Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 $50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121376 Heatsink/Fan: Noctua NH-D14 Heatsink w/ dual fan $50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018 Motherboard: ASUS M4A78T-E $50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131366 RAM: 4gb G-Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600 $15 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277 Powersupply: OCZ ModXStream Pro 500w $40 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016 Case: Cooler Master Elite RC-310 $20 (Shipping will be calculated at UPS store because of size) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016 Optical: Lite-On 22x DVD Burner $10 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289 Western Digital 1TB $40 I will be using the USPS It Fits It Ships boxes from $5.35 to $15.45 depending on what size is needed. Parts are sold first come first serve. If you want to buy the entire computer as one item, I will charge $325 plus shipping as long as no pieces are sold already. Everything works great. I just built a new machine with a Core i7 processor and have no need for two machines (its actually more like my wife won't let me keep two machines). Prices aren't set in stone but keep it within reason.
  15. I think I will go with the x650. So many people said that 750 was over kill. Thanks. I should be placing my order today.
