  1. I am sure there are many influences here still from Ryan/Verran. I come across things everyday that remind me of Ryan or I try to think, what would Ryan do? Or how would he approach this? Or I imagine how a conversation would go with Ryan’s perspective/opinion/analysis. I guess it’s just ingrained. 2009, in some ways it seems so long ago, and in other ways it doesn’t even feel like much time has even passed. With that said, he loved this site, and I’m sure he’s still contributing in his own way.
  2. Yep, it's been a year. I've managed to figure out most of his home network stuff, and keep doing things his way, to the best of my ability. He always did everything his own unique way. In some ways it seems just like yesterday and in other ways its just been way too long, I miss him every day. I've managed to keep busy this weekend, so I don't dwell on this too much. Thanks to the OCC community, it's always nice to hear from you, and remember all of the great things that Ryan did for people and how he touched your lives.
  3. Ryan would think this whole discussion is funny, we would have had a good laugh over the whole discussion. p.s. don't tell anyone where I live
  4. price/performance....that's great. He was so logical. He even calculated price/performance (and by the way performance was calculated by horsepower/weight) when he bought his car. I now own that car....and I still can't really drive it yet.
  5. Great Contest Dave, I knew you were up to something, but I didn't think the contest would be this big. I would like to thank the OCC community for all of their support. Verran loved this site and enjoyed helping people with his, seemingly never ending knowledge on these topics. He always was good at being the voice of reason and giving criticism in such a nice way. I hope that after the contest ends that we get to check out some of the replies.
  6. There is not a video, there are some pictures but they are mostly of family.
  7. If you plan on attending and need a place to stay, this hotel is connected directly to the University Club: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/cw/1/en/h...elsearchresults I just spoke with the marketing person at Candlewood Suites, and they are offering a rate of $79.00 for a studio (1 queen size bed and room for a rollaway) and $89.00 for a 1 bedroom suite (1 queen size bed and a full sized pullout) if people want to say there. The direct line is (517)351-8181. They just need to call and when making the reservation they should ask for the "Bredin Celebration" >>this is me before my last race, I am part ninja, and that is why I didn't get hurt!<<
  8. In someways this gets a little easier over time, but in other ways it is getting harder. I miss him like crazy. I am close with his family and that helps, but at the end of the day he is still gone. Our dog, Kaylee, is here for me. As crazy as that sounds, it's true. She is always right by my side, she was his baby. He always worried about me and her if something happened to him. That is why my avatar is a picture of Ryan and Kaylee. I've been wanting to write more here about him, but I just don't know what to say. We lost someone that was truly a great person, but we should all feel better knowing that he is no longer suffering.
  9. Hello Everyone, In case you hadn't noticed by my name, I am Ryan's wife. I've been reading along with all of your posts, and I appreciate all of your support and kind words. He truly loved being a part of the OCC team, he took it very seriously, he referred to it as his "job." This was a job that he truly loved. He liked the technical aspect as well as being able to help people. As the website grew he would talk about all of the people and the members and how great it was to be a part of something so big. I am leaving emotion out of this post, because it is meant to show my gratitude to this whole community. But I will be back to share more when I am feeling up to it. Thank you for all of your support, Kristin
