  1. By looking at my sig you can see the components, but my question is this. Should I try and oc with my current memory? Problem is I don't have the money to buy new ifI burn it up. But I am curious to find out it can handle the strain. Thanks
  2. Well here's what I found out, today, matter of fact just finished disassembeling everything!!! I emptied the case! And cleaned it out like new, I took apart the CPU Cooler and looked at the pattern of the themal compound from the way it looked on the chip it appears that some if the chip was not covered by the sticky mess! So anyway I went a step further and took and added Artic 5 to the north bridge also. Then I blew out all the coolers and then I made a mod. With the Giga byte board that little DPVM module's fan lights up so I swapped it with the norht bridge, no sense in hiding a lighted fan so I put it where it could be seen. Now after all is said and done, it appears this was very worthwhile my CPU temp is around 114!!! So this is very GOOD! By the way I like the Thermal Take Silent Boost in anyone is interested about buy one. It uses an 80mm fan but spins at about 2600 rpm's. According to Easy Tune 4. So thanks to everyone for their help.
  3. According to Easy Tune 4 My CPU is running about 70 degrees "C", but system temp is alot lower. Something that I think is happening here is the monitoring software is monitoring the v-core temp. But is this too high or normal?

No thanks, I am running dual channel, and that's why I want 1024. Thanks

I have an Abit KD-7 with Raid, an AMD 2500+, Barton with factory Cooler, and a cheap video card, Nvidia 4200FX everything will come with original doc's and drivers. The board is about 6 months old along with everything else. This combo has been OC'd but only for a very short time( like only 10-12 hours) I just did it as an experiment, and encountered no problems. Everything worked flawlessly when I disassembled the system and upgraded to my currrent system. I am asking 200.00 for everything, or I will trade for (2) sticks of 512 of Kingston HyperX3200 Ram, and in return I will send my (2) 512 of Corsair XMS2700. My email is [email protected] or [email protected]
  6. Ok here's the deal, I just sprung the 2 Bills for the 3200+ XP. Now I've got dual channel 400 FSB. I am currently running Corsair XMS 1024 2700LL. Now this is some pretty fast RAM, but like everyone else I want faster. I was looking into either 3200 or 3500 and either from Kingston, Corsair, OCZ, Geil. Now I've read several forums concerning these brands. Geil sometimes doesn't work with anAMD ptalform, Corsair is expensive, Kingston I heard good ruslts from but it is about the same as Corsair, so which one is better for the money. Also has anyone heard if Geil has worked out their bugs with the AMD issue? Thanks all!
  7. I read something in another forum about how GigaRaid loves cable select, can anyone specify why? Or if I should consider this? Also I am wondering if I set my Raid wrong, I took and loaded everything like, hitting F6 and all that cool jazz, but I didn't create any partitions or anything, I just had Windows format the drives then loaded windows into the default partition that it created. I was reading once again in another forum that they created a 1gig partition and put the operating system in there. Also to they created a partition and put the directory in there, they did this as astand alone partitions. Any help would be greatly appreciated, just trying to get the most out of my system like anyone else. Thanks
  8. If you think I am happy about that listen to this. I lost my job in Sepltember so now the state is paying me to go to school for 2 years. So I thought that computer networking was a good field. Well last Tuesday I'm in computer class and we are talking about input devices, storage, etc... We had to label which is which yea, real brainbuster stuff! So anyway this guy says to me , Ok Mr. Computer Networking guy help us out, so I told him the answers and he says, you are like way passed this, I said Oh yea, but I got to have it before I can move on. Said thing is this is the second class in the series, and I still have to take the first one yet! Oh boy what's that going tobe about this is the desk? Who knows! Anyway thanks all. I am still trying to figure out how to oc this board. One thing I don't like is that it doesn't have a CMOS jumper, like my Abit.
  9. Well Dude I got it! Yea let me tell you that Google is something else! I typed in theproblem that I was having and it took me to a forum that answered all my questions and it even gave me the file to download! As soon as I got everything in order, I re-configured my system to run in the Raid Striped mode and powered up, did like windows asked, hit F6, gave it the ol' floppy disk and Voila! Shaz Zam, it found the drivers, then it off to the races! Man, I love This Thing , No your not getting my Bud Light!!!! SWEEt As Honey On A Underwear Models BeHind! Yea Baby! Thanks for the reply, though.
  10. Hey all, I just bought a new board and I went the cheap route and bought just the board, no software or anything no drivers. I thought that I would just be able to download these off the net. Well as it turned out, it didn't work that way. I downloaded the drivers put them to floppy, and when I went to put in the OS it said that it need the file txtsetup.oem. Well I went artound it another way and checked out the disk and it was there. What am I doing wrong? This disk by the way is to install Gigaraid drivers. So you know that you have to hit F6, to load manufactures drivers. I did all this, but obviously I made the disk wrong. Any help would be great.
  11. Well I just bouight the GA-7NNXP, and I haven't really gotten around to oc'ing it yet, only been running now for a couple of hours. But I will post something here afterwards. As far as oc'ing, I had the Abit KD-7 oc'd at the 2800+ level! But I didn't keep it there. Anyways , I'll let ya know.
  12. I 'm in the market for a new mobo, but the mobo that I want doesn't come with Raid so I am looking to purchase an almost new raid card. I would prefer to have a Promise Raid card or a Highpoint just because I am more familiar with those makes.
  13. You have to remember that you are dealing with an instrument that is tempermental like a woman and you have to massage it gently if you want it to perform for ya. Take your time, if/when you overclock you find that you have oc'd a little bit and the system becomes unstable then you may also have to up your voltages for your memory and cpu. Do alot of research before you start flooring it. Remember you have walk before you can run. Take your time and play around with it. By experimenting with your system you will learn how far you can take things. Also read YOUR MANUAL. Then when you have read it, read it some more! Also learn where all of your jumpers are located on the mobo. Get to know your mobo like the back of your hand! A good place to get some good info is the cpu manufactures website and the maker of your mobo. Also another thing you may have to do is update your bios. But depending on your mobo flashing your bios can be very tricky and devasting! So if there is an update available for your mobo, get help and see how it's done before you attempt it on your own.Good Luck and have fun. Welcome to OCC!
  14. I am currently running 2700 ddr. I want to purchase a new mobo that has dual channel memory. Will any 2700 memory work or does it have to be specially designed for dual channel setup's? To be specific I am using (2) Corsair 512 2700LL memory modules. They were purchased at seperate times but they are of the same part number. Any details would be greatly appreciated.
  15. I'm also looking into getting a new board. I am currently running the KD-7 with Raid and the VIA chipset is really slow. So I am going go to the Nvidea chipset. I've been doing some research and I found a site that did a good review of the FIC-AU13 board. The site here is www.ocaddiction.com go to the review tab and look through there. Or just go to google and type review fic au13 and this will give you abunch of sites. But for what it is worth stick with the nforce 2 chipset, the via's are all right but not fast as the nvidea. Also keep in mind not to buy a board that has features that your going to use, this will help to stay within a budget. Just thought it was worth mentioning. Good Luck!
