245BW Lover

Hi All,

Time and time again i search for new monitors only to go back to what i know and love, my 245BW samsung. Besides it being 16:10, it's boxy and i think it just "gets it done".

It seems things have progressed to 16:9 land, im not into movies/multimedia enough to appreciate or not care about my missing pixels.

Are there any competitors like the 245BW, or do i need to keep following ebay for them?

In particular, i have one vertical as many people do these days, and that's an absolutely necessity.

Thanks in advance guys,

Ant

I have a similar screen called the HP ZR24W. It's 16:10, 1200p, and S-IPS. A drawback to some is that it's a CCFL backlight rather than LED. Good news is that they can be had on eBay for around $150.

I suppose this ASUS might be your best bet... though honestly for not much more you could get a 27" 2560x1440 IPS. I'm a much bigger fan of 16:10 over 16:9 too but the way I see it... as long as you're maintaining or increasing resolution both vertically and horizontally.... then it wouldn't be bad to goto 16:9.

I went from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080 on my laptop but obviously I wouldn't settle for a 1920x1080 monitor for my desktop since my current HP is 1920x1200. I love this monitor, though I wouldn't mind a 30" with 2560x1600 (hell even a 27" with 2560x1440 would be nice)

The 245BW is LCD, so that monitor would be a stepup perhaps(it has IPS in the name so i assume so). I have never actually owned an LED, just used them at work.

I just can't really stand losing the pixels, rather, the "boxy"-ness of 1920x1200, but yeah...if i could keep the scale of 4:3...that'd be sick.

Thanks guys so far for your suggestions.

NICE! I'd totally go for that if my HP died today

That's a great deal. Seen a similar price at my local Microcenter. In all honestly I'd have passed on the Qnix had that HP been available when I was buying. Oh well.

I couldn't find the meme picture of that angry kid, but "I f*&ing love refurbished". I still want my 16:10, and i think i'm going to keep my 245BW feed on ebay for now. Dell Ultrasharp seemed like another option too.
