Gaming is supposed to be fun...

Fun for who, the trolls or the legit players. This policy is mostly going to effect the trolls. The fact that we rarely have any first account posts of innocent users being banned makes it hard to believe it will affect the majority of the community. All we see are "What he said / she said" nothing tangible.

Go to a game server forum's report hacker section. See how many claim themselves innocent when they aren't. Forums should hold some form of decency. If ever forum was like 4Chan, I would never use them.

You may want to play games with someone looking over your shoulder all the time. Go ahead. I prefer to not have to worry about that and just have fun.

I'm assuming you have no issues with draconian "you must always be online, if your internet is out you can't play" DRM as well?

So your idea of forum decency is treating the paying customers like crap? You're gonna go far kid.

These companies are here to build a community, not to serve the lowest common denominator. Users who misbehave should be punished, paying or non-paying makes no matter.

Well they aren't doing a good job at either of those, according this thread, their idea of building a community actually alienates 80% of the people.

How is arbitrary and extreme punishment going to help build a community?

1. Lack of Features - EA has plans to expand Origin, even a DICE dev commented on it not too long ago.

Barrie Tingle - The features I have heard of are definitely to the benefit of the players. One in particular is particularly interesting and will be a massive hit with players I think.

Can't say what it is or when it is coming but if they do it right, it will be awesome.

2. Lack of other Publishers - They are adding more.

3. Banning of forum users from their games - They already commented on this, a change to the policy and the severity of the punishment. How many of you or your friends have suffered from this? Wait no one? Really? Then why are you so bothered about it?

Works well in N. Korea. See how many of them mourned for Kim Jong Il? They loved him so much :teehee:

Of course I'm not in trouble with EA, I avoid them like they're a uh.. leper or zombie or something you else you avoid. They were on thin ice with their long standing anti-consumer history, and they lived up quite well to it when they made Origin.

After screwing up, when they should have been on their best behavior in the first place, and saying "We see that we were wrong (again), but we're sorry and we've changed, honest!" isn't going to cut it. I didn't hear of them reinstating all the accounts that were wiped, that would have been a great PR move in showing you've changed.

Even if EA makes a great platform for developers, I'm not interested because they have a history of horrible policies for consumers. And an argument that nothing bad has happened between us recently, when i've been staying away on purpose, does not resassure me they have changed their evil ways.

Oh my, a DICE dev you say? Well that is fancy, I'm sure everyone can be reassured by this person's vague evaluation of an upcoming feature on the only platform his game sells on. He certainly has no incentive sugar coat it, nope, totally unbiased opinion right there.

Also, Barrie Tingle? Sounds like a porn star name.

Who exactly complained about the lack of publishers anyway? I don't remember anyone complaining about that, certainly not between your last post and this post so I don't see why you felt the need to restate it. It's pretty understandable that Origin doesn't have everyone on their roster quite yet, you don't have to keep bring that point up.

It doesn't have to affect me or my friends to encourage me to avoid EA and Origin. In fact that's why I avoid EA and Origin, so it doesn't happen to me as well, the old "fool me once, shame on you" saying doesn't apply to companies like EA, they don't get a first chance to screw over every customer. You know how you avoid the worst part of town because of how you hear about bad things happening there? It's pretty much like that, just because you might not get mugged, doesn't mean you should risk it.
