Looking for some new speakers

I currently have a Yamaha RX-V375 with a sony 5.1 speaker setup uniquely set up (no center connected, but the 4 speakers are all connected to the from L & R input, subwoofer is normal )

 

I would like to stay the same, I like very loud sound, I don't care about surround or hearing something behind me, that's the point of the amp, to overpower me with sound!

 

On that note I need a new  L & R channel speaker setup & subwoofer.

 

any suggestions?

 

my audio priorities

 

1. loud, these speakers are in my living room, and I daily will turn it up to hear in the basement or just to blast some music so they need to have the ability to get freakin loud

2. clear subwoofer. nothings more nasty than a sub getting distorted. I would prefer one with built in crossover n amp so I can not use speaker line input

3. that's about it... lol

Really if anything would be size. I don't care about making them sit around me, As I Have all 4 to the left of me right now.

 

Budget wise around (for the pair) $200-$250 is what I am aiming for

 

I have or will make space for a tower speaker if its worth it, but I would prefer nice bookshelf ones.

Is connected to TV or PC?

 

With PC you could get away with the corsair SP2500. 120watt RMS Sub and 56watt RMS satellites and sits at $250 on Newegg.

 

Now you budget says $200-250 for the pair is that just the LR pair of speakers? If so what budget do you have for a new sub as you wanted one of them too.

Well the sub is not in the $250 because I know if I want something powered, and deep n rich im going to pay for it lol.

 

I have my receiver hooked up  with a headphone jack in my FRONT L/R which then splits into a Red/White RCA to AUDIO 1

 

I will prob put another 1-150 down for a subwoofer.

You want loud and good quality snap up those Polks ohldboy found at a steal of a price.

 

Could even get a pair of PSW10 Polk subs for $79 each and then your system will really thump but retain more quality than than whatever old set of Sony speakers you had.

Polk 65T will be your best bet, with that budget. Keep in mind, your receiver may be the weak link if things aren't loud enough for you. There will be a point where you reach clipping/distortion, when the receiver can't play any louder. For your subwoofer, the BIC F-12 is a good choice.

I have seen the BIC speakers more and more for sale, but never really heard anything first person about them.

BIC makes some really solid speakers for the money. Better than what you get for that price from a mainstream (Polk, Klipsch, etc) company.

If you want new speakers, get cambridge audio S30s.

 

Polk is fine, but I prefer dynaco A35s or dynaco A25s. They are vintage speakers, so you have to buy them used, but they kick out a lot of bass without a subwoofer.
