d3athsd00r Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Alright. This is a little bit more advanced than what I am used to. I currently have a old desktop and laptop and am getting possibly 2 more desktops. I have been looking around and trying to find out exactly how to set up a cluster. All i find is people explaining what it is but no real information on how to do it. These are all old hardware (400mhz Pentium4 w/ 266mhz DDR). Does anyone know of a good guide or at least how to do it? Can any linux distro be used as a cluster or just certain ones, i was looking to use something like Damn Small Linux, Vector Linux, or FTX Linux. Any help will be appreciated since I don't have any clue what I am going to do with a cluster.
gthicjohn Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 In order to build a render farm this guy Helmer used Fedora 8. Most of the examples I have seen of clusters and Beowulf systems have been with several identical systems using several KVM switches. This might help also answer some of your questions Linuxclusters.com. Hope this helps a little.
