Hyper Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I noticed on one of my folding rigs that the gpu process kept failing and I would get artifacts on the screen.. upon further investigations I realized the pump for the gpu loop had stopped working, When I pulled the pump assembly out I saw the problem.. Guess the pump was getting a bit hot too
bp9801 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Time for a new pump. Any idea how it happened?
ccokeman Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 MCP350? Older versions would do that! Kind of why I stuck with the 655 until the last purchase I made.
Puck Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 The older MCP350 series pumps PCB gets real hot with continuous use, and are prone to failure. They make heatsink kits for them that are supposed to eliminate the problem, but if you have the room I would just run the bulletproof 655 instead
oldandfat Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I have the 655 and it has been running 24/7 for literally years.

wevsspot Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Hard to beat the MCP655 or variant for reliable operation and if you can find a place to mount it.
Hyper Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I have the 655 and it has been running 24/7 for literally years. Yea, my 655 is the first pump I ever bought and it's still running If I recall correctly, it was for a Q6600 with 2 4870's build when they first came out, and for the past year or 2 it was on one of my folding rigs (i7-920). I currently have that one apart and am transferring my i7-3930k over to that system (which has a mcp355 that also has been running for a couple years.. the res top has changed but the pump remains the same..) ccokeman Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 All the 655/D5 variants I have are still runing and I just bought the ApogeeDrive II that uses the 355 as the pump so hopefully it lives for a while.
