  1. This is a fix I remember I used when I was playing wow in 2010. I think they included it in a patch shortly after that.
  2. I am going to buy a new pc monitor and one those I found has HDCP. From wikipedia: HDCP is a form of digital copy protection developed by Intel Corporation to prevent copying of digital audio and video content as it travels across connections. How is this going to affect me if I am playing games or watch movies, both downloaded illegally?
  3. Hello my good friends, I am thinking of buying Portal 2 and I have some doubts about it due to the multiplayer part. I read somewhere that I can't play multiplayer if I don't have any steam friends that own the game. Is this true? If it's not, is it easy to find a game or a partner? Also, I have no idea about the modes I can play. By the way I suppose that pirated versions of the game can't play online right?
  4. Thank you for your responses, I appreciate them. I have searched a little more about my issue. I found out that most psus have a 6 pin cable so it goes directly to the gpu. My psu doesn't have it (at least I can't find it). The cables in my gpu packange contents has 2 6 pin cables, each go to 2 4 pin molexs. The psu gives me 2 black connectors that look similar to sata cable, but it is 4 pin instead. So what I can do now is connect 2 female molexs (from 1 6 pin pci-e slot) to a 2 female-1 male Y molex adaptor and connect it to the 4 pin black cable I described, and then connect 1 of the 2 female cables directly to the black cable, without the Y 1-to-2 adaptor.
  5. yea I am already looking to upgrade it, however I am confused if I should use it now with 3 out of 4 slots as i said (at least until i get a cable to plug all 4 and then to upgrade it)
  6. Powertech ATX-530. Couldn't find it online. Are you sure I will be ok, at least temporary until I find a new cable? I don't want to risk my new gpu.
  7. Sorry, I forgot to say that I have a 530w psu.
  8. I just bought a gtx 560 asus top today. It comes with 2 cables, each one extends to 2 other cables so from the 2 power slots that the card has I have 4 now. The problem is my psu doesn't have many slots available and I can plug maximum 3 of 4 of those slots. Will this be ok just for everyday use, (not gaming)?
  9. Do you think a cooler will help? I am looking at Cooler Master NotePal U2.
  10. Hello there, I have a Dell Studio 1555 laptop with 2.1 dual core GHz CPU and 4500 ATI Mobility series GPU. The laptop has a problem (I think) while I play certain games (WoW, HoN - not NBA 2k11, FIFA 2011 or Counter Strike), it suddenly shuts down. You might say that's caused by overheat; I tested it and I got to those 2 major points: -After a shut down and reopen of a game (WoW), the laptop may shut down again within 2 seconds to many minutes. -The max temperature I got is 101 degrees Celcius. Your thoughts?
  11. Yes I dual boot in Windows 7 64 bit and Kubuntu 10.10. Cpu is dual core from intel, at 2.1 ghz (dont remember model) and 4 gb of ram. I didn't mention that my hard disk has a major problem too, usually my pc crashes at 15 minutes max after normal operation.
  12. Hi, I have a Dell Studio 1555 for about 1.5 year. I didn't exactly have fun with it and I have rebooted it manually many times due to game crashes. It has an ATI 4500 series GPU. I tried to install a graphics program (not sure if it matters) in my Kubuntu with no luck and the next time I restarted the pc it just booted in command line, with no GUI, and keeps doing it of course. I have searched the web and tried many things, with no luck. I have also made a thread in ubuntu forums, however I noticed that my windows 7 boot is not working aswell (I get some wierd graphical things (no command line)). Any help would be greatly appreciated! PS: Sorry if it's not the best section I could post that.
  13. Yes he has tried it but he still can't log in.
  14. My friend has an old pc (built it in 2000) with a 6600 GT. When he was opening many youtube tabs, the pc was struggling so he updated his drivers. The next time he booted, after the load bar from the motherboard, he got a blue screen of death so he couldn't log into Windows (he has XP by the way). He checked RAMs and chkdsk but found no issues. What should he do now?? Thanks in advance. PS: might be in the wrong section, sorry!
