    Budget Build

I am not replacing anything. I need a new PC an additional one! @comoutered I'll add the extra 4GB. Could you suggest an A6 build. Is the power supply fine? And is the processor better than amd athlon? Regards
  2. Thanks! I was just worried if adding a slow (100 Kbps) router to the setup would slow it down. If so, please suggest a 1Gbps router. Also, could you give me an idea as to the cost of the said layer3 switches.

    Budget Build

I am looking for a budget build with minimal usage like Internet and Office Applications. I have used Athlon II x2 320 successfully over the years and still works really well. I am not looking for much better performance but there is this new stuff like AMD A4, A6, and A8 series which make no sense to me now. Should I simply go for the tried and tested stuff or should I look at Intel or other AMD stuff? This is what I have in mind: Intel Pentium G2020 A Gigabyte/ASRock/ASUS motherboard (reliable one albeit cheap ) Kingston HyperX Blue 4GB RAM Corsair VS350 power supply WD HDD (Already have a couple of them) Dell 20" Monitor Please suggest if you have any changes in mind.
  4. I am looking for a switch with DHCP and a 6-8 1Gbps LAN ports. This is for a simple network connection without internet connection. I am currently using D Link DGS-1008D. I would prefer something with DHCP to save me the trouble of assigning IPs and to get Windows to detect the network properly. Please suggest if I should use a managed switch and if yes, which one. Regards
  5. I'll try it this way for a while if it doesn't work, I'll put it on the table top or use a mesh on the table top.
  6. The front and back are open and well-ventilated. I was only looking for an additional exhaust at the top.
  7. Not enough space to do so. That was supposed to be the next plan of action. My HDDs are quite ok as I have a fan blowing cool air right on them, it's the CPU that get's hot. I'll get in that extra fan and see if it does the job or I'll simply place the 690 on the table instead of placing it below it!
  8. DanTheGamer11, I think I'll just add one fan at the top then. Hopefully it will help a little bit. Braegnok, the latter. A non vented cabinet with only the front and back open to air.
  9. Intake: 1 at the bottom, 1 in the front and 1 on the side Exhaust: 1 at the back and 2 at the top (As indicated in the 2nd image.)
  10. Here's a little sketch of the layout. The Front View The side view
  11. I am considering putting my PC having two exhaust fans into a table but I only have about 3cm left at the top of the case between the case and the table. Should I go ahead or is it a bad thing idea?
  12. Thanks RayMark! I'll try a different computer with a fresh winrar install and see what it does.
  13. Hi, It has been a very long time since I last posted! Recently, I have been facing a rather unusual problem while using WinRar. Whenever I open a file from the WinRar window, the file is extracted to the parent folder and remains there even after closing WinRar. Earlier these files were probably extracted to a temporary files folder and didn't trouble me. Now I have a load of files everywhere there is a .rar file I have opened. Any way to stop winrar from extracting files and just simply view the rared files? Thanks, nns
  14. I am looking for a Windows 7 boot without modifications.. I am going for Dell XPS 15... Thanks, nns
