I like wevsspot list of PSUs. Couger products are typically bright orange, so if you are picking on aesthetics for a red/black theme than just keep in mind that is most likely orange and not red.

Not sure how you are coming to over $2033 unless you are not including some items in your post that you are including in your total because I don't come to $2033 at all. I don't think I've seen a 2k build here in a long time ...especially one that didn't include a monitor in the purchase.

Well, I come up with $2056.47 (and I checked it twice). I think one thing some might be missing is x2 on the video card price (since the OP wants to go Crossfire).

Spaz - mind sharing the compelling reason for choosing the Fatality sound card over the regular Recon3D? I couldn't personally justify the cost difference in the two.

Creative Recon 3D

Pushing that line of thinking even further, if it were me I'd be looking for the previous generation Creative x-FI chipset as found on the x-Fi Titanium, x-Fi Titanium HD or even some of their lower end sound cards. IMHO it is a superior chip to the Recon if you consider all types of audio input/output. I wouldn't be discounting options from Asus or HT Omega either.

Umm... Will OP even need a soundcard? IMHO he should just ditch the soundcard and get another SSD for a scratch drive.

Also, since OP is planning to WC in the future, why the H100i? Seems a waste of money getting the H100i now and then ditching it for proper WC in the near future. If it were me, I'd get something like the Hyper212 Evo for now (moderate OC) for the time being. It still is a waste but wasting $30 is somewhat better IMO than ditching $100.

Ok im sorry im confused... what does OP mean???? operator? lol.

I chose that particular sound card for the fact that it had that front 5.25" bay header, and i thought that would be really usefull. so i guess if its not needed i wont get a sound card and may in fact just get another SSD.

The only reason i was going to do WC before was beacause i had picked out that ASUS maximus formula V ROG board, which had Fusion cooling on it. But it is so expensive to do WC im just going with h100i now, and am probably forgetting WC altogether now. so would i really even need a sound card? what does it do compared to sound exerted from the motherboard?

and im sorry about the links above, the appropriate links are on the previous page. and im going to just say that my Grand total is $2000 +/- :teehee:

OP = Original Poster :) Generally referring to the person who started the thread. No question that the 5.25 might come in handy for some folks, but looking at the cost differential you might need to ask yourself how bad you really need it. Most of the same features you control from the box can be controlled via the Creative Control Panel, you get a headset and mic plug, but those will likely be available on whatever case you choose. And if you need connections for both external speakers and headphones you can always just buy a splitter cable (which is what I typically do).

I'm probably one of the few that insists on a dedicated sound card. I'm not an audiophile, but I can definitely tell the difference in audio quality and output between a decent add-on sound card versus most onboard sound. With that being said, today's onboard sound options are more than adequate for a huge majority of users.
