  1. SOLVED I put the w8 cd in drive & went ahead to reinstall it fearing I'll loose all. To my surprise there was the "Refresh your computer" option promising nothing will be lost. And sure enough now the system is running as before, nothing lost even the dual boot with XP. Regards .....nick
  2. SOLVED Thanks all for your support & advise. Sorry the 25v was my misreading my meter scale, is in fact 12v. As the cable connecting to the EATX12V socked was the one stopping booting, I opened the PSU box & one of the cables that connect to this socket showed signs of slight white powder or dry soldering which I resolder. Connected the PSU cables to another PC & worked OK. Now it is in my PC & am back in business, for good I hope. The only snag is that booting gives "CPU FAN error" although the fan is spinning quite fast with no sign of heating to the touch. Any ideas on this please? ........nick
  3. Hi all again, Thanx TripleX, By process of elimination I found that the only connection that stops PSU & PCU fans to run is the EATX12V plug which has two plugs on same cable & both go into a 8pin socket on the mobo. Without that, although the fans spin the HD does not run. Even changed the HD just in case. My test meter across red & black of the power plug to the HD shows 25V. ...nick
  4. BTW, I checked the start & recet pins for continuity & when are pressed, & also bridged the start pins but no boot.
  5. Thanx all, I have the box here in front of me, removed the front panel & the small cables & leds look glued & are not coming off, in the mobo all these wires are on long female socket that cannot go the wrong way on the pins. What perplexed me from the start are the two sockets coming out of a PSU lead & each says PCU1 & PCU2 for which there is no visible socket on the mobo. But the PCU must be powered from its socket pins. I cannot remember how I found them on disassembly but, for some reason I marked the one "L" for left???. The other thing, if you think would stop it even trying to run or boot, is the battery which I will change with the one from the PC I write this as soon as I finish. ...................nick __________________ Asus P5K Premium WiFiiFi Intel, Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 95W 2.4GHz, OCZ Cpu Cooler, 2x2GB, 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 800 (400mhz) PC2-6400, EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX KO 512MB GDDR3 (PCI-E), Maxtor sata 160gb, OCZ 600W Game XStream Psu, X45, XPhome sp3
  6. Hi, Mobo:- Asus P5K Premium. I have striped it down, clean the dust & rebuild it 3-4 times before with no problem but, this time will not boot. (PCU & cooler not removed this time) The Mobo's gneen led comes ON but pressing the start button NOTHING happens. EATX12V & EATXPWER conectors from the PSW are on tight & so is the cpu fan connector. Any help will be apreciated ........thanx .........nick Home build, Asus P5K Premium WiFiiFi Intel, Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 95W 2.4GHz, OCZ Vendetta Cpu Cooler, 2x2GB, 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 800 (400mhz) PC2-6400, EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX KO 512MB GDDR3 (PCI-E), Excelsior sata 250gb, OCZ 600W Game XStream Psu, X45, XPhome

  8. Posted Today, 09:26 PM from a forum helper:- Okay so I did some googling on AMD's website and found this in the Eyefinity FAQs: Quote: What Operating Systems does AMD Eyefinity technology work with? At present Windows® Vista and Windows® 7 support AMD Eyefinity technology. There are plans for Linux support in an upcoming update to AMD Catalyst™ software. There is no support for Windows® XP. So XP isn't supported for Eyefinity, unfortunately CALAMITY, so after so much trouble I went to, & a lot kind forum helpers, I came almost to huck it & find XP whon't do. Cheerio all.
  9. I downloaded & installed this one 10-12-xp3-dd-cc-ocl.exe. I don't know about those, look below: and you can only select two, does not allow more.
  10. I downloaded & installed this one 10-12-xp3-dd-cc-ocl.exe. HOW DID THIS POST GEOT HERE ???
  11. But JBags, The 1st picture is my catalist & only gives 2 monitors. The second shot is of the catalist I do not have, this is shown in theutube . And look the shock somebody just given me:-[/b] You're using a REALLY OLD Catalyst or are on XP. If you're on XP, you wont be able to use more than 2 screens. OMG !, And look what this says here:- http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/produc ... d5770-flex "..........ATI HD5770 FleX 1GB GDDR5 Supports up to 4 Monitors Compatible OS Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Vista ..........." WHERE at least can I get the new catalist ?. .........nick
  12. Installed the prober cables you said below, the center screen shows as usual but the other two just remain black. I run the Ati software Catalist shown below but only 2 screens show. Tried all the variables in it without success. Uninstalled & installed the drivers 2-3 times. Don't know what to do next. My Catalist above though is entirely different from one in a Utube Setup Info below showng 3 screens:- - Single-Link DVI-D to Single-Link DVI-D - Single-Link DVI-D to Single-Link DVI-D - HDMI to Single-Link DVI-D
  13. But if I connect the DVI cable to the HTMI socket on the card both screens show OK. Hopefully when I get 2 proper DVI cables & connect them to the DVI socket of the card & the monitors I may get all 3 screens working. With your help folks am geting there slowly. ............nick
  14. Good news, Managed to run FSX OK with different drivers from ones in CD supplied. I have a DVI cable & tried to use it but it shows nothing,it only works with my old VGA cable.
