  1. The funny part about all this is that consumer thought we sold this card with the heatsink VRM. It was a PR mixed up in UK Palit which cause panic here in the US/Canada(typically). We were getting bad review comment on Newegg which has no relation to why it is a bad product. The customer promoted Sparkle reference board because he didn't think that lifetime warranty will save him from a burnt OC. Here is latest one: Pros: - Fast card - Great overclocker (if it can stay cool) - nice design - in SLI, two of these cards yields a 20 percent improvement over the 500 dollar GTX 480 A breakthrough for re-igniting some long awaited price wars, pick the gtx 460 up while you can. Cons: - No VRM heatsinks - 2 year warranty - not the same specifications as advertised "1. The review is in UK which is out of Palit USA control. 2. We send to all our review in the USA medias are the one without heatsink in VRM. 3. You did not purchase the Sonic Platinum but the normal Sonic. So the review you saw are not the same because you purchase a model that is not the same with the review. " But still, i dont see any "regional specific" warnings being displayed on any of these reviews. Other Thoughts: I bought this card because of its review of being a "cool and quiet card" just because it stays below the required heat signatures doesn't mean its not very hot. And when a product is actually the opposite of what its being advertised as, hot and loud, its pretty disappointing to wait a week just to RMA the thing half hour after it shows up. Apparently there is a BIOS update that keeps the card cooler, and reduces the fan speed reducing noise, so at least there's that i suppose. I opted for a reference design Sparkle with Lifetime Warranty instead of two years. Im sure the Palit will perform well, perhaps better than most in this price point with adequate cooling, and wont be an issue to most users, but if your planning on overclocking the card or feel like you have been Had, i suggest a different brand. Our response. Manufacturer Response:Dear tj, 1. The review is in UK which is out of Palit USA control. 2. We send to all our review in the USA medias are the one without heatsink in VRM. 3. **Fact** Reference board is standard board that other manufacturer put a sticker on and call it a brand. Palit usually do not do reference board and try to innovative by having our own design. 4. You purchase GTX460 Sonic and the review you saw was Sonic Platinum. I'm not sure why you are mad when the model are different. 5. It wouldn't make sense to buy US product and complain about the UK reviews. That is why we have our own US medias/review. Below is example of how good our card is without the Heatsink VRM. Here is the latest "EDITOR'S CHOICE" review without the VRM heatsink. It proven that you do not need the heatsink. http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/palit_gtx460_sonic_platinum/19.htm Please call us toll free 1-877-934-7932 Thanks Palit's Specialist.
  2. I read the thread but I think you need to test out the Sonic Platinum for yourself.
  3. The GTX460 is suppose to compare with 5830... at $199-249(gtx460)...it wouldn't make sense to compare it with $349+(5870) which is consider a high end card while the GTX460 is midrange.
  4. Thanks for the review. Very nice. Yes, the GTX460 is good card and people are trying to find any mistake they can regarding the card. The fact is, good price-point, good core/memory clock. Solid card.
