kennethk Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Firstly I leave my pc on all the time so I'm not sure how much higher my bill would be if I leave my pc on anyway? Keep in mind I'm still trying to learn how bitcoin works I've heard tons of people talking about it. I have a gigabyte 7950 > https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison Looks like I'd get 400megahashes to 500 common megahashes I also have a 630w psu. So good idea or not? Locutus Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 If you think it's profitable and you think your power bill and card durability are worth imaginary money, go for it.

feetfats Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) If you think it's profitable and you think your power bill and card durability are worth imaginary money, go for it. I am no expert at all but can't this "imaginary money" be readily cashed in for real money? And I know the value of this stuff can drop extremely fast but as long as you are constantly exchanging the cash flow for real money you would only lose one day's earnings at most. It can be, and it has a good conversion rate. However, mining is a very time consuming process and one where it's rather hard to actually make a profit if you have a single computer. http://earn-bitcoins.com/#earn-bitcoins-from-mining and http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/

I hope you try this out and let us know how it goes. I've been curious about mining my 7970 but I don't think I could make a profit after power costs. I barely know how this works so I could easily be wrong.
feetfats Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) Can a guy make a buck by leasing servers and mining from them? Edited December 22, 2013 by feetfats
