Anyway, back on topic... It's a nice chip, can't argue against 6 cores for $200 or $300!

Most games aren't CPU-intensive.

True - but minimum frame rates usually fluctuate pretty wildly from low end -> high end CPUs. The occasional hiccups don't really hurt the average too much but they absolutely murder the playability. Look at the second chart down here: http://www.legionhardware.com/articles_pag...e_part_1,3.html 30 -> 34 FPS for the whole range but the minimum ranges from 9 -> 23...and that's with high-end quad core CPUs!

 

I'm still tempted to get one of these for my HTPC...I do enough video encoding that it'd help out massively.

i snagged one for my htpc build as well I don't do any encoding, but it will be folding :) and you better do it quick the 1055's are already unavailable from TD
