  1. hehe no more bios playing in this board... =D it was a great little adventure, I needed it. thanks all for support!
  2. well I did it! I couldn't wait again... and everything works fine!! at least in boot, no errors. Bad luck me or lucky me... I managed to recover my old bios but now the new bios it's broken I think. lol at fist it did work but then I think I just shorted(I shorted both several times lol) and was giving the "no nvram found" next tried to recover the new one but it said " bad file block size" or whatever when writing the file into flash. mehhh I soldered the old bios and now must put the cooler the right way to test in windows. here are 3 photos. enjoy xD 2 bios http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/208/57648774.jpg/ test spot http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/163/49821535.jpg/ and final result http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/856/lastgi.jpg/ the only tools I used http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/9419/sam0509c.jpg
  3. well I just removed my bios with the help of that little tool. and with the technique that you add a little solder to all 4 pins make contact to each other making possible to remove both at once. I was shaking A LOT lol. http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/7602/step1wf.jpg now I will clean the best I can and proceed to put the new bios without soldering to recover my old one. need something like this http://www.hipro-tech.com/images/h [...] lash_5.jpg and a solder sucker because the contacts aren't flat enough to place the bios straight
  4. that is some useful information Braegnok thanks! I paid 10$ for mine with 4 day shipping from holand to portugal- edit: received today the new one. 2 day shipping! now I must prepare hehe
  5. i'm doing this because as I said my motherboard does not do anything. no beeps no nothing. cpu init error, all lights on, nothing. I tried that too. "Why not buy the exact same BIOS chip from Asus ?.. also new chip must be installed exactly as the one being removed. If you rotate chip 180o chances are it will short out, and if you install any chip other than original replacement you risk damaging your motherboard beyond repair. " I'm waiting for the equivalent chip now and as for asus I sent them an email explaining what I want and they said that can't help me because out of warranty period.
  6. I can do the wiring at least http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/9918/wiringh.jpg update: well at least they will send another one without any more cost. =D
  7. lucky me... they sent a wrong bios http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/18/wrongbios.jpg/ GRrrrrRRr I sent an email for another bios site and they said these bios models are compatible " MX25L1606, or Winbond W25X16AVSSIG, W25Q16BVSSIG, CFEON F16 and sst 25vf016b any one would suit you. " but all of them are the correct size. one question now... Is there any harm If I try that bigger bios in my smaller bios spot? (with some wires ) because supposedly the bios they sent is programmed for my motherboard.
  8. here's 3 4x8 chips I de-solder and solder on a old motherboard to practice. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/210/sam0483m.jpg/ getting ready!
  9. stupid me the bios location is in the manual and I saw it all and dind't see lol the bios is the one from the second picture. I already ordered a chip and If I succees no more bios playing lol thanks all for help I really appreciate it!
  10. thanks, I will solder another bios I am confortable at soldering. my local shops does not have that kind of service unfortunately is this the bios close to spi header? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/210/sam0482y.jpg/ I found a tutorial that when I get the new bios chip I turn it on without soldering and go to the flash programa and then swap to the bad bios and flash on the go. with this I have a change to recover the bad bios and have a backup one! just need to be sure the bios is the one in the picture
  11. nope that doesn't work either, I tried every possible method. it can't even detect the keyboard (usb our ps2)
  12. is this what you're talking about? http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/8328/img20130124011129.jpg if yes damn I tought it was something like 2x4 but I will not quit.
  13. crap =( yeah clear cmos don't work. it's really trashed bios well I found a bios chip on ebay but I can't seem to find where my bios is located. I'm reading the manual but I don't say "bios" in images. here's the direct link for manual http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/Maximus_Extreme/E3498_Maximus-Extreme-manual.zip I know it's AMI bios. I hope you can give some hints. I must try everything because my system is good. All this because of the maximus formula to rampage formula mod. I tried the rampage extreme bios first. stupid. in everyway. just beucase the board does not handle well with 4x2gb ram in overclock thanks all
  14. hi all. I somehow flashed the wrong bios because now It won't turn on. all lights are on and nothing happens.. =( any solutions? I have the bios backup in a bootable pen but how to do it? thanks, Marcio Oliveira
