sandmankelly Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Hi all. I have just started OC,ing, and am addicted to it. But I am afraid of burning stuff out, so just tweaked a bit. Here is my rig. I am currently running it in auto freq select mode for the GPU and CPU. My cpu is clocking out at 4.885GHz when there is a demand. It idles at 1.5GHz. I dont know where my rig is, in comparison to other peoples. It runs Skyrim at 57-60fps pretty well. 3DMark scores and more shown here at my blog here: http://mybigrig.blogspot.com/ ASUS Sabertooth X79 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s Intel Core i7-3930K Sandy Bridge-E 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 2011 CORSAIR Hydro Series H100 (CWCH100) CORSAIR Vengeance 64GB (8 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Corsair Force Series 256Gig SSD (my maine drive) EVGA 03G-P3-1588-AR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) Classified 3072MB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced RC-932-KKN5-GP COOLER MASTER Silent Pro Gold Series RSA00-80GAD3-US 1000W Win7 X64 Professional Edition

damian Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 are you running skyrim on max settings? Whats your res?
sandmankelly Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 are you running skyrim on max settings? Whats your res? I do indeed run max settings in Skyrim. I hope you play Skyrim. I am prety sure all my textures are 1024 or better. I have a lot of game/modding time with Skyrim. I am currently running it on my 23" Acer G235H monitor, 60Hz, 1920 x 1080 res. Here is a pic of my parts, 4/14/12 as I recall. My first computer, not including the "Commodore's", was a Mac "Lisa". Paid $1200, and it had a 6" x 6" square black and white screen. This rig is my 4th home built.

wevsspot Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I'd say that if you're getting 4.88Ghz with everything on Auto - then you've got a good chip and good motherboard going there.

The reason i ask is because i have this feeling you could be pulling in more frames. http://www.techspot.com/review/467-skyrim-performance/page6.html cpu scaling (you got the better chip and higher clock at a lower res) http://www.techspot.com/review/467-skyrim-performance/page7.html This is just speculation. Maybe im not taking into account other factors.
