ir_cow Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 So I have my Epson 9600 setup through the network but I have this strange issue i'm trying to figure out. Basically, after it sends to the printer que and than sends it to the printer itself, it always sits about 1-3mb away from the full size and being finished. (Example 166/168MB) and never ends up finishing. The printer has 64MB of internal memory so I know it has to refresh a few times while printing. The printer will print all the way to the end but than it just sits waiting for the last bit. I waited a few hours before just to see if it would go on it's own, but it does not. I just can't figure out if it's the printer network card or the computer that is at fault. Any ideas would for great. I haven't tried a different computer since my laptop is windows 8 and doesn't like the vista drivers. Here is what I know: 1) It prints fine over USB (same images and program) 2) It does not matter file size or format, they all do the same thing 3) After a while of waiting after the printer stop, the computer gives me a generic spool error 4) leaving the computer idle or using it has no effect 5) fresh reset or printer or computer has no effect on outcome I'm thinking it's the printers network card, but i'm not sure. Fragsman Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Sorry I can't help (I suck at deadling with printers) but a bit of humor doesn't hurt
AkakmanH Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Unfortunately, the 9600 is notorious for bad Ethernet cards. The only option is to replace it. I did a quick search and found at least one vendor which has a 9600 card for just about any I/O you want. Here is just one - http://beaglehardware.com/interface.html If you also have USB, you can share the printer and get to it that way. It is also possible that the 9600 memory is flaky. For what a replacement card cost, you might be better off getting a new printer - or - maybe refurb.
ir_cow Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Ah so it is the card. That's what I was thinking to but I couldn't really find reports because it's an old printer. I only spent $500 on the printer with a ton of unsed ink and unused 44" 100' roll. So it's cheaper for me to replace the card as the printers sells for over $1000 broken
