  1. Just need some advice on whether or not to upgrade my GPUs and if so to what. Right now running a 3570k @4.5ghz with 2x6850s in crossfirex. I play mainly Guild Wars 2 right now and will be playing Borderlands 2 when it comes out tomorrow. Lately I've really been leaning towards getting a 660ti (prob MSI power edition) or a 670 (prob Gigabyte windforce). My main concern here is that my current set up is too CPU centered, and I'm not getting the type of performance that I could with a newer card. Also Crossfire is a pain the a$$. There is always an issue with something whether it be drivers or profiles. Will def OC the card if I get a new one - but dont want to upgrade if the performance increase will be minimal. Thanks in advance for any thoughts/advice.
  2. I have 6850 crossfire and a 965 BE. I get around p6700 in 3Dmark 11 w/ the cpu @ 4GHz and GPUs @910/1150.
  3. Well that's depressing....guess I'll focus on getting an SSD for now and see what comes in the future as far as processors go.
  4. No you're right. It's not really ideal....I would like to get an SSD system drive soon and then use the other 2 drives for storage.
  5. Nope, no back up. But really I don't have anything important on it.
  6. Well thanks guys - really appreciate your input. I think I'll wait....I'm still glad I got the Sabertooth as its an awesome mobo but I probably should've gone Intel instead. Oh well Heres the rest of my system just for reference...guess its not too bad for now. ASUS Sabertooth 990fx Mobo AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE - OC'd to 4 GHz w/ a Corsair H50 2xGigabyte 6850 OC version - OC'd to 910/1150 (also - you can't adjust the voltage on these cards which is annoying) 8GB G.Skill DDR3 1600 mhz 2x500GB WD 7200 RPM drives - RAID 0 OCZ Fatality 700 watt PSU Corsair 500R
  7. I don't do rendering or video editing. Really I just game and do regular stuff...maybe rip some blu rays and do video converting. I have 2 6850s in crossfire.
  8. I have an ASUS 990fx sabertooth running a 965 BE @ 4GHz. Obviously, since I have an AM3+, I've been contemplating the upgrade to an fx 8120 or 8150. My main concern is gaming performance -- from what I've read there seems to be mixed opinions on the performance of BD. If I got one I would def. OC it as much as possible, which at 4.5-4.7GHz I've seen some reports of it keeping up with a 2600k even when the intel is OC'd to a similar clock speed. Other issue is I would need to upgrade my cooler from the H50 to the H100....and I have a 700w PSU which I think I might be maxing out on as it is. So $240 for the BD + $100 for the H100 + $150-200 for the PSU = It is worth it or should I just wait for PD?
  9. Sick lookin dude. I like the red cathodes w/the white braided cables a lot.
  10. Really ? Yea for some reason, when I had 4GB, it would stutter a lot - but once I put in the other 4GB, its much smoother and doesn't stutter like it did before. I was monitoring the RAM usage while playing, and it was as high as 6GB in some levels. This is at Ultra settings 1920x1080, 2xMSAA, 16xAnistropic
  11. 2x6850 - 4968 http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/furmark_192_score.php?id=41157
  12. Just got my 4GB of ram from Newegg. Made a HUGE difference in games especially BF3 and Crysis 2. Those games would stutter as things were loading in the level....i thought it was my HDs but looks like 4GBs of RAM wasn't enough. Checked today and BF3 is using over 5GBs of RAM while running.
  13. Yea I guess I'll have to wait for piledriver and hope its better than bulldozer since I already got an AM3+ board. .. and yea I think it was around 16k in Vantage on the 5770s. I was also considering the 6950 2GB but I thought the performance for the price might be too low. Now I'm thinking maybe I should have gotten maybe 2 6950s - but then I would need a new PSU also.... Ugh - I guess I'm kinda stuck...maybe I'll get an SSD or somthing might help a bit in overall performance.
  14. Hi - I just upgraded to 6850 CFX from 5770 CFX. Basically got the cards for about $280 after rebates and got $20 off a Corsair 500R that I got at the same time. The performance jump is definitely noticeable, and I have been mostly happy with gaming on these. At the same time, I find myself somewhat disappointed as I'd like to run all games at max settings 1080p around 60 fps at least. I know this may be unrealistic ...especially with my other specs : ASUS Sabertooth 990fx Mobo AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE - OC'd to 4 GHz w/ a Corsair H50 2xGigabyte 6850 OC version - OC'd to 910/1150 (also - you can't adjust the voltage on these cards which is annoying) 4GB G.Skill DDR3 1600 mhz (just ordered another 4GB of the same ram) 2x500GB WD 7200 RPM drives - RAID 0 OCZ Fatality 700 watt PSU Corsair 500R I get about P6500 or so in 3dmark11 and about 20k in Vantage Guess my question is - what type of performance should I be seeing? Is my set up ok or am I going in the wrong direction ? I was going to buy a Bulldozer - but not sure if I should now or wait for Piledriver. Any advice would be awesome !
