AMD is insane

Recommended Posts

Trying to overcome Intel's Sandy/Ivy/Haswell per core and overall performance and efficiency through brute force  :)

Strangely there is something novel about a 220W TDP processor in today's world.

I feel like the Vantec Torndos might be poking their loud little fins back in for some cooling on these lol!

Wevsspot I still count low power consumption in the Efficiency part of the processor technology.

I doubt that 220W TDP is coming from a near zero power consumption.

Edit: Corrected a mistake in the word "technology"

I think it is just another nonsense article.

A processor with 220Watt of TDP will require something very big for cooling - which is not possible at all.

I would call BS on that, I'm not sure an AM3+ board would be able to supply 220W of power to the CPU.

I am picturing a CPU with a bunch of female power plugs coming out of it like a video card lmao!

Yeah.. I'm gonna throw in with the bull crowd. AMD may very well be preparing some new higher-clocked models to somewhat answer Haswell, but not this. Obviously, that TDP is ridiculous, but they also don't fit AMD's naming scheme.

FX-4xxx => 4 core /2 module

FX-6xxx => 6 core /3 module

FX-8xxx => 8 core /4 module

an FX-9000 doesnt fit this profile for an 8 core chip.

in addition, compared to their previous FX flagship chips, the 8150 and 8350, we're likely to receive a refresh with the moniker 8550 first before any 8770 or 9000, and the highest they'll likely go would be 8990, for an 8 core.

Now if they came out with a 5 module/10 core FX-10xxx, that i'd like to see  :D

If they get that high they will probably need a dedicated power supply and auxiliary power connections on the motherboard   :)

i can do that ! ,....amd stocks are climbing on the NYSE today
