  1. My monitor is rarely used for movies, so why would I ever want a 'cinematic' aspect ratio? 2560x1080 sounds awful, and for that $400 you could have a 2560x1440 Korean IPS/PLS. I don't understand why these monitors exist really, aside from maybe the office market to replace dual monitor setups?
  2. Could I grab Bioshock 1 as well? I've been meaning to pick it up but for some reason every time I remember they want like $10 for it (which is nuts).
  3. Can I get the Left For Dead 2 code? I sent you a PM with some donated games as well. Thanks!

  5. You and Panda's pixel obsession made me go and check to see if they went away since I haven't seen them since I bought it. Nope, still there, but only if the monitor is dark and I'm two inches away (and only because I know they're in that spot). Do you actually notice these things or is it more of an OCD-style "I like having NO dead pixels, just because" sort of thing?
  6. I have a Crossover IPS. Don't worry about dead pixels, it isn't worth paying. Mine came with a 5 pixel guarentee, but came with about 12. The seller offered to pay for all the shipping to get me another one, but I opted against it. They ended up giving me a $30 refund as an apology anyway. Backlight bleed is what you really have to worry about (they don't guarentee that since they can't quanitify it) and mine had none. Turns out the pixels are so absurdly small you'll never notice the dead pixels. It took me and a friend in a pitch black room to see the stuck pixels - might have well been dust. I've never seen them in use, only if I'm three inches away searching. So if the dead pixels are dissuading you, don't let them.
  7. Zalman CNPS9900MAX-R, from the Marketplace forum here: http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=172693&hl=cnps9900max-r I have one and it's great, never will get in the way of a memory slot. Great cooling as well, better than the EVO. It pains me to see that one go unpurchased for so long.
  8. Just an alternative, $400-$500 for a lighter laptop that he can actually carry to school and use in class with a reasonable amount of battery life. Then spend $800-$900 on a nice desktop for him to play his games on. This way his experience at school will be better (no being permanently attached to a wall socket, less heavy of a laptop), and his experience with games will be better (bigger screen, better graphics, ability to upgrade). There's also the benefit of keeping the fun out of the classroom. The problem with a $1300 gaming laptop is that when he 17, he's going to have a laptop that's too old to game on, and too heavy to use as a laptop. Just some ideas.
  9. I'm looking for an mSATA SSD for the laptop I'm preparing to purchase. 64GB is the desired size, but I can't stomach the $80ish new prices on these things. Was hoping someone around here had one collecting dust that they were looking to get rid of. IE: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148611
  10. Don't forget that Samsung drives are now produced by Seagate, so I don't know if I would assume that the F3 is as fast as it once was.
  11. While the domestic S3 is only dual core instead of quad, I think it's important to mention that it also has 2GB of RAM as opposed to the international version's 1GB. I think that's a worthy tradeoff, and not sure if it was mentioned here yet (even after a quick skim through the posts).

I think everything's pretty solid about my build (that's what I was going for), the keyboard's just getting a little long in the tooth. Thanks for another awesome contest.
  13. Wondering if anyone has any Socket 1156 boards they're looking to part with. It needs to be capable of SLI, and should have the usual modern amenities like USB 3.0 and SATA3. Thanks.
  14. Let them know that you're going to contact the BBB and see if they start caring about you. Most Firestone locations are BBB accredited. At the very least you can get a little revenge.
