  1. You will have to make sure that your RAM isn't getting overclocked too much as this usually gets unstable before the CPU. Try either manually setting it to 1066MHz (or 533, whichever it says) or if you can't do that, set the FSB:Memory ratio at 1:1. If that's still making it unstable you will need to up the voltage/s.
  2. Upgrade to 5870? Anything below that probably isn't worth upgrading to. The 4890 is still a great card performance wise, it just doesn't have the new fangled technology like DX11.
  3. I'm running a stock Athlon II X2 250 @ 3.0GHz.
  4. Yeah, hopefully I'll become a regular around here lol
  5. Paul has proved to be more helpful than I could have imagined! I've just paid him £45, the ex-review XFX 650w XXX Edition will be on its way soon Great deal, really nice guy too. Just thought I'd let you know Pruritus, I have you to thank for telling me to get in touch with Paul.
  6. Yeah Paul is helping me out, I'll let you know what I decide on getting Thanks again
  7. Haha OK well thanks anyway and I guess I'll give Paul a PM. FYI, I'm not going to be getting the HX520w. The seller found the receipt and it was actually almost 3 years ago that he bought it (Sep. 2007). He also didn't know about the warranty on it.
  8. Thanks for that link. I've had a look through and here's my selections: Antec EA 650. Seems like it can be had for a little over £60 Antec TruePower Neo 550w (I know that it's the 750w on the list though) about £70 Cooler Master Silent Pro 500-600W (I know only the more powerful ones are on the list) £60-£70 Corsair HX520w. About £70. Offer of £45 delivered for one which is roughly two years old. (the seller has very high feedback on a UK forum's classifieds section) Corsair VX550w. £67. Enermax Liberty Eco 500w. £59 Enermax Pro 82+ 625w. £38.23 including delivery XFX XXX Edition 650W. £70 I know it's a pretty long list but I'm quite undecided at the moment. I'm tempted to grab the Corsair HX520. Might be able to get it down to £40. On the Corsair site it says that this PSU comes with a 5 year warranty; if the seller still has it that'd mean roughly 3 years left which is good enough for me to be honest.
  9. I'm sure it is a great PSU but I'm afraid it's just too expensive I'm on a tight budget as I've spent money on those hard drives and the GTX 460 as well. Any more suggestions which are a bit on the cheaper side?
  10. I meant to say - I'm looking to hopefully spend under £60 but I could probably stretch to £70. Obviously, I need something which is reliable and is going to power my system but I'll not likely be upgrading so I don't need much headroom.
  11. I'm being given a few PC parts from a friend and I'll be buying a few myself to put together this system: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 overclocked to 3.2GHz Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2 CPU Cooler Asus P5Q Premium 4 GB DDR2 RAM @ 1066MHz Palit GTX 460 1GB Sonic Platinum (pre-overclocked, will be doing own OCing too) 2 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATAII in RAID 0 Samsung 24x DVD RW 3x 120mm LED Case fans My question is this: what PSU should I use to power this rig? I won't be overclocking the CPU anymore but I'll have a go at overclocking the graphics card once it arrives. I'm not going to SLI this card in the future. I'd like this rig to last about 3-5 years without any major upgrades so that's what the PSU will need to last as well. Thanks in advance
