  1. I dual boot Windows XP and Ubuntu Dapper. Recently I realized I needed more space on Ubuntu's partition so I decided to use the GPARTED LiveCD to repartition my Hard Disk. After I completed this everything worked fine. Here's a low tech diagram of my HDD at this point: Windows --- Unallocated Space --- Ubuntu Since GPARTED can only expand a partition to the right I had to copy the Ubuntu partition and paste it into the Unallocated Space: Windows --- Ubuntu copy --- Ubuntu Then I deleted the Original Ubuntu partition and expanded the Ubuntu copy to fill the rest of the HDD: Windows --- Ubuntu copy Everything appeared to be normal until I rebooted: I get a GRUB Error 22 in the boot process. ](*,) Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't boot either one of my Operating System's at the moment.
  2. Are there any free programs available that can resize my partitions?
  3. I have a 40 GB hard drive with 2 partitions - Windows XP and Ubuntu. Currently the XP partition takes up waaaaaaay too much space, I need more of it on Ubuntu so I was going to downsize my XP partition and enlarge my Ubuntu partition. I thought this was going to be a simple task, apparently not. I have tried the Ubuntu Live CD. The partition editor on it freezes when you apply your requested changes (and yes I have tested this more then once). I have tried using Gparted and Gnome Partition editor on Ubuntu, the options to downsize the XP partition are grayed out. Same goes for the disk management partition editor on XP. I have tried using the Partition Magic boot up CD. I got an error. I tried to use Disk Drake on PCLinuxOS installation CD but no matter what torrent or download I use, it's ALWAYS ALWAYS corrupted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Well the Bios Temps read fine so there must just be something messed up with smart guardian's temps... I'll look into getting a multimeter anyway... Thanks guys. -sheep
  5. Antec Truepower 550W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817103932 That was the first thing I did, would have been nice if it fixed it right then and there but it didn't. <_< Don't have one, but if it's inexpensive I would consider it. -sheep
  6. Ok, I started up my computer and looked at smart guardian and for the first time I'm seeing voltages in red. Should I be worried about this? Here's a screenie:
  7. Nice find, they both look really nice, I just started having problems with my computer but after I figure those out I'll be sure to get one of these. Can't wait to dump my 75 pound CRT! -sheep
  8. How about this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16824205006 ?? -sheep
  9. Ok here's what happened: I left my computer on overnight. My brother comes down to use it but the screen is just showing "No signal" on it. So he shuts it off. He tries to turn it back on and the screen is still "no signal". The comp doesn't post, there are no error beeps. I've checked all the external and internal connections, I just don't get it. Any help is greatly appreciately. -sheep
  10. I'm looking for a new LCD monitor for X-mas. I'm looking for a monitor roughly in the $200-$300 price range, possibly a little more, preferably a 19". Monitors are not my area of expertise so I'm in need of some tips and advice. Thanks. -sheep
  11. I think the IDE cables may be constricting airflow a bit, but not that big of a problem. I could try rounding them though... I reinstalled the CPU fan with just a little bit of AS5 right on the center of the CPU, my temps are now 1-2c cooler, which is strange. Do you think this could just be the AS5 burning in period or something? Only thing I can think of is there is a small scratch on my zalman heatsink's base when I hold it up to the light in the center, do you think I should lap it? I'd have to find out how to lap a heatsink but if it gets these temps down then... Oh and I'll look into getting a compu nurse temp probe for my next reinstall attempt of the CPU fan. -sheep
  12. Reinstalled the CPU fan, still same temps -sheep
  13. I've got a PCI-Express XFX 6600 GT and when I OC, it can reach 62C at load. Idle, it's only around 47C, but 62C sounds pretty hot, should I be worried about my temps? Tanks. -sheep
  14. AMD 64 3000+ Venice DFI Infinity NF4 Ultra Zalman 7700 CU HS/F (installed with artic silver 5) XFX 6600 GT Cooler Master Centurian 5 Case Antec Truepower 550w In smart guardian, System1 temp is for the case and system2 is for the CPU correct? And if so why are my CPU temps in the upper 40's before any OCing? -sheep
  15. AMD 64 3000+ Venice DFI Infinity NF4 Ultra 1 GB Patriot XBLK Memory XFX 6600 GT (PCI-E) I'm looking to do a bit of overclocking but I'd like to be careful. What programs should I use for monitoring temperatures? Currently I've got nvidia nTune but it doesn't seem to be of much worth. I get an alarm for the system temp being 29 C... Anyhow any advice, tips, guides, etc... are welcome, I can't afford to fry anything. -sheep
