ir_cow Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I have a quick question for your OCCers. A: Whats a good telescope brand to look at stars? B: What ones can attach a SLR camera to it? Thanks,
SpeedCrazy Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 No clue. I have a cheap one that i just hold my slr up to and mess with. haven't really got any good results yet. Make sure and get one that lets in as much light as possible because even if it looks bright to your eye your camera will struggle. DanTheGamer11 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Price? You would need an eyepiece with an adaptor, and a lens piece that is adapted for the eyepiece thing! Unless you want to go CCD or whatever
ir_cow Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 (edited) I would like to keep it $0-2,000. I found if you aren't gonna be playing around either go big or go home. I was looking at some that had star trackers on it but they are like 20k I got a few test pictures but I didn't have a telescope and the city glow made the exposure hard. Hmm Orion, Meade and Celestron were good companies back in 2006. You find the eyepiece mount and SLR adaptor? Meh you just need a motorized mount and some software on a laptop Edited January 8, 2013 by DanTheGamer11
ir_cow Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 (edited) I was looking at B&H for eyepeices http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/browse/Eyepieces-Accessories/ci/3385/N/4100994423 edit: Found an adapter , $16 for a 55mm DC ring, I think I can connect it to the front of the Lens like a normal filter. DanTheGamer11 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 (edited) Might want something like this too - http://www.telescopes.com/telescope-accessories/photographic/meade777offaxisguider.cfm This site seems alright since it's American I don't know much about eyepieces, this a comprehensive read though - http://www.universetoday.com/17064/telescope-eyepiece/ The companies I mentioned make decent eyepieces! DanTheGamer11 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Can never have enough links... Except when they're broken. Lol those are good photos! OwinC Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 For a beginner. I would choose an 80mm refractor telescope. You will be suprised what you can see with a small apature scope. This is a little expensive. but it will be excelent for astro photography. Orion ED80T CF Triplet Apochromatic Refractor Telescope. $899.99 For your mount. I would start off with the Orion SkyView Pro Equatorial GoTo Telescope Mount. Was $849.99 Now $722.49 Hey! Sales are great! Eye pieces. Please do not go cheap! You will get a poor view of the night sky. The eye pieces are on the way expensive side for the beginner. But I do have some lower end as well. I do use all of my lenses during the year. I myself do not do astro photography. I tried. I did the afocal way. Just couldn't keep up with the extra parts and so on. So I just look through them. I'm into see it now. Instead of later. Tele Vue lenses are great. Meade lenses are as well High power for plannets and splitting double and tripple stars. But you can over power, and get crappy views. So keep that in mind. Lower and mid power for Nebulas and star clusters. And the Moon. Try to avoid full Moon without filters. To bright! My mind is getting little cloudy. Will ad more later.
