Nemo Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Not everyone needs the ultimate in cooling, nor do all cases have room for the large tower-type coolers. For those looking for excellent, low-noise cooling in a more compact design, there is the Noctua NH-U9B Special Edition SE 2 - http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/noctua_nhu9b_se2/

But i think it`s a bit overpriced. NH D14 it`s Noctua`s king, but this one priced around 40-45$ i think it would have been much better. freddie Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Considering pick one of these up, my hyper tx3 is banging my head in.. how does the ulna work?
Stonerboy779 Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Considering pick one of these up, my hyper tx3 is banging my head in.. how does the ulna work? It is just a resistor which forces than fan to run at a lower voltage and hence lower speed and lower noise. I think it drops it from 12v to 5 or 6V I forget. I have this exact cooler but have never actually used it but I have used the fans to mod an intel stock cooler for a stealth mod htpc. I also made use of several other noctura fans all with ulna adapters and I have great temps and very very quite operation even with highly restrictive (>50%) grills.
